Bowie Links - Is this for real?

Long time Bowie fan myself, I've only recently revisted the Ziggy Stardust album and it might just be me, but I clearly see that David knows something.

Here's some lyrics for your opinions"

The curious lines in the chorus (the last three) seem to divert the concept that Bowie was talking about aliens, but i see a way that they fit perfectly.
The children losing it implies - let the children sin, as we're the children of God, this starman, and we're ungrateful. The children using it is the opposite, were we more or less leech from the ever presence of God, again; this starman. The most confusing line, the last, seems to imply let the children dance, but i see, rather than dancing, boogie is a synonym used to represent human's free will.

If we can sparkle he may land tonight a ight

This section of the song is clearly referring to a confontation, where the confrtontee shines a light at the starman which is a light. Not telling your pops is a clear reference to the fright impulse we have, as perhaps children, to run to our parents, and their worry over the 'light' instills even greater fright.

That's the main song which hints towards something; but here's more:

Notice that it's eye, not the plural eyes. Most cultures convey that humans have a sort of third eye, which is keen not to the physical but to the metaphysical. That's what the word electric hints towards.
The ray gun could be, perhaps an abduction beam, and once onboard close first hand contact with the being. it's so bizarre it's like freaking out in a MOON AGE daydream.
