What are the chances of Obama fixing all of our economic problems, and start peace through the middle east. If this was to happen wouldnt it sway almost everyone to Obamas side?

I doubt he'll be able to fix either problems. We've gotten to deep into the problems, the problems can only be stalled. (Kinda like global warming, lol)

He has a better chance at fixing the economy though. That's fixable.
The war in Iraq can't be aborted now. It can only be won. And I don't think we'll be able to win it.

I wish people would start to understand that NOBODY can fix the economic problems facing the world. It will only get worse before it gets any better. This system was built on the intent that it would fail after prospering, throwing millions of people into economic dispair to further the ideas and the power of the elite.

Obama is either a good guy or a puppet, i'm still on the fence about that one. Figure i'd give him 6 months.

Now he can make some chances and alleviate some of the pain from this economic collapse, but you're dreaming if you think he can "fix" anything.

IMO, slim to none. Just too many problems hitting him from all sides. While he is busy trying to put out a fire on one side, the other side flares up. Eventually he will have to pick between concentrating primarily on Domestic or Foreign policy.

I would suggest to him that he puts his focus on the domestic, as he might have a civil uprising on his hands in the next year or so if he doesn't catter to the people that have elected him as President.

We must remember that more and more people are fed up and are willing to go to extraordinary lenghts to prove their point and have they're voices heard.

Then again it is a give and take situation, focusing on his domestic promises might lead to harsh criticism by the UN for not participating stongly in world affairs and attempting to quell the uprisings popping up all over.

We'll just have to wait and see, there's something big coming, whether it's Astrological, War, or Biological, something is gonna happen, and i think it's gonna suck.

Good luck folks, we're along for the ride

Well, it kind of depends on a lot of factors (including how long he remains as president.)

Can he reduce our national debt? A graph shows that it's likely and that many administrations since Truman have done so: zfacts.com... Notice that the change has to continue through several administrations... one hero doesn't walk in and "magically fix it all."

He can, however, start us on the road back from our 50 year high.

Could he start peace in the middle east? Possibly. Mrs. Clinton certainly has more clout with these states than Ms. Rice did. He's a coalition former, and if he brought enough nations of the world to put pressure on the region (including their neighbors like Egypt), it's possible that some sort of truce could be established.

But neither he nor any leader can force the militias of the area to quit shooting unless they get a "piece" in the peace.... and if they suddenly decide that the "other guy" is being favored (for whatever reason) they will come out shooting again.

At this point, he has a lot more respect than Bush did. Most of the world was very much against Bush's invasion of Iraq and of Afghanistan. Obama's planning for a draw-down in those places and this may strengthen his position. The change in power structure in the Middle East with this reduction of troops can cause shifting in the politics of these small groups.

But nobody can say for sure. He can't wave his wand and produce things.

I think he has a very good chance to beat Bush's record.

First he needs to figure out how to pick people for cabinet posts, then he can start to worry about the economy. Which he hasnt done so well with.

If his best idea is simply to throw money at the economy, he doesnt stand a chance. Take a look how well that idea has worked for inner city schools all of these years. Money isnt the answer, changing the system is.

As for the mideast, no way do I see victory anymore. The people who put him in office want to see the US fail over there so they can continue to drive home that America is a weak nation to advance their agenda. It truely is a shame that we have lost so many lives over there and so many families are seperated and the powers that be will not allow them to win.

Very good advice. The question is will he take it.? Presidents like that Foreign policy and the power that comes with it. It will be interesting to see how the world would view him if he was to pick domestic over foreign policy.

Obama's not going to fix anybody's problems. Particularly problems that have been building for the last 40 years and have less to do with politics than they have to do with large-scale global social forces beyond anyone's control.

The best he can hope to do is enact some big public works programs, like FDR did, that will keep people from starving in the streets and may have the added benefit of rebuilding a good portion of the United States infraststructure. It couldn't hurt.

And peace in the Middle East? That's a good one.

I think he would do better if he stuck with the ,yes WE can thing ,and kept the fixing as part of a movement like in the campaign

Some of you have mentioned that we all had our part in making this mess and it's going to take all of us to fix it

if Obama went back to that idea ,instead of thinking now he's head of state and HE has to fix it .it would work out better

First thing he should be doing to help the economy: Would be to make the U.S dollars worth more. Countries that are using Euro's are 59 cents worth more then U.S dollars.
If he could help raise the real value of the dollar, things might go along a bit easier. It dosen't seem like a big deal- but it is.

Also, don't expect anything from Obamba, he is all words and no action.

Anyone that really wanted to fix the ecconomy would let these buisnesses that are too big to fail fail. The credit bubble has poped. We were using money that did not really exsist and now everything has to deflate.

Banks that know how to bank could take over once citi and a few others go out then the people that lost jobs from those would get new ones at places that pick up their slack.

The socialist programs that Obama is planing are taking a problem that would cause 2 or 3 years of suffering before it fixed itself into something that will be long and drawn out and will hurt more people in the long run.

Peace in the middle east will never happen. People have fought over that land as long as people have fought and nothing has changed. You can not blame the muslims or the christians because that land is just cursed. Something about it makes people want to kill each other.

Obama will do nothing but weaken the U.S. then again I think it is his plan.
