Comcast Airs Porn During Super Bowl

Tucson NBC Affiliate KVOA-TV Says Only Cable Customers Could View Material

KVOA-TV in Tucson posted a statement on its Web site late Sunday saying that apparently only Comcast subscribers saw the offending material, which was shown just after the last touchdown by the Arizona Cardinals.

This is crazy!!!

my friend just showed me a video of what was showed, and it was 100 times worse than what Tyler Durdan did in the movie Fight Club.

This was only in the Tucson area... But Tucson is in Arizona, so I'm sure many people were watching.

I wonder who is responsible for this? Do you realize how many kids just watched there first adult movie?

Disturbing stuff...

why couldn't they have broadcasted something about 9-11 instead?

I did this about 3 years ago...

It was about 4am and I was watching a movie off satellite in the control room that happened to have a little partial nudity.

In my haste to roll a local commercial break, the wrong button was hit taking what I was watching on another monitor directly to air. Granted it was only about 5 seconds.. it still happened.

This is actually a more common occurrence than you would think for local stations... this one was just caught largely because more people were watching tv during the superbowl.

-edit- I am sure the master control operator who let this one through was promptly fired though. The fine has grown very large for accidents such as these.

Poor people in Arizona... Not only did their team lose the Super Bowl... but the viewing audience also got molested.

Those little children are going to be mentally scared for life.

It was right after Fitzgerald scored that 60 yard TD... it didn't even cut to commercial.

Upon further investigation of this "accident".. this was completely Comcast's fault.

For it to only be viewed by the comcast customers in the area, it did not originate from the local station affiliate (or everyone in the viewing area would have seen it).. it was more than likely a early switch with the network provider.

Comcast will get sued over this one.

Who has the right to sue?

How much could this cost them?

Howling with laughter....I lived in Tucson for 27 years and this truly takes the cake. Time to make some phone call to some friends.

Anyone who viewed it. But, you would have to prove it harmed you in some way.. hard to do. It would cost you more in legal fees than it would be worth.

They will end up getting fined by the FCC, and it will be swept under the rug.

-edit- The bad part is with the 5 second delay (all networks use) it should have been caught before it hit the air... somebody was not paying attention.

I did not go to jail....

Trust me, this happens ALOT.

Now had it been the actual affiliate that did it, yes there would be more trouble, and that local station could lose their license to operate... but come on, its comcast. This is why they have legal departments, it will go away quietly.

Honestly this is tame. A local station in Florida had a disgruntled operator who locked himself in the control room and aired porn for 2 hours before they could get the transmitter shut off. Bet you never heard about that one... swept under the rug after a considerable fine.

I don't want to post the link...because I don't know if it's OK with the rules in place here. However, it can be found really easily if you visit youtube.

If it was a larger demographic.. I might agree with you on the severity of the issue.

If it was say, New York or Los Angeles market (a much bigger viewing demographic) it would be a little more severe.

Don't get me wrong, it was careless and should not have happened. But it happening in the "town that lost the superbowl" will not hold much bearing.

People complain about things on tv.. but they would not know what to do without it.. thank god, the masses keep me employed.

Expect a public apology, a hefty fine.. then back to business as usual.

i doubt it, all you see is a penis and i'm pretty sure at least half the kids watching have seen a penis before and are unlikely to be scarred by it. besides, if there is a parent out there that didn't manage to get the channel changed in the 15 odd second lead in, then the child is likely to have seen far more scarring material before now.

And a ****load of legal action.

I bet over 50,000 people saw that video... There will probably be atleast 50 or more people trying to sue comcast.
