I do not believe it is time to ditch the bible, nor will I believe that any theological or book based on belief is bad. It is a persons belief, and
practice, as they make of it what they only get out it.
However, I do believe that those who would preach from such a book, need to realise that there are more than just the 10 commandments in the bible and
there are a whole series of laws, that were made to keep a community healthy and whole. Entire passages dedicated on what to eat, how to prepare the
food, what to avoid and how to live in general.
I find that it is the hieght of hypocrisy when people just pick and choose what passages to follow in the bible, or the different laws of such. The
most notible is when the bible is used to justify hate of one group or another. My understanding of such is that if you are a christian, then the
laws of the old testiment no longer applies, and the only commandment is to love one another. That is it, means be nice to the other people, and not
to be judgemental.
Ultimately, I do believe that there are still lessons and the ideals of morality are still in the bible, but only if a person takes the time to think
about what they are reading and how it applies to their life, not their neighbors or the people that are not in their house.
