Why do all threads i post show no views?

Hi peeps.... Thanks for the great board you have here at ATS but a small question...

When i check my profile page every thread i post sais that all threads have had 0 views no matter how many replys, stars and flags etc i have?

The views-function has been disabled to save bandwidth for other projects.

I don't believe views are being counted anymore.

Ah ok thank you for both your reply...... I wonder why it hasnt been erased from the forum code then? Oh well.... No problem

Ok just 1 more question...... Then why doesnt ATS move to a no limit server? As an example the UK server i use for my work costs $40 a year or 20 quid in English (my pound sign doesnt work) and has unlimited bandwidth, upload, download etc........ Just curious as ATS is a fantastic fountain of knowledge on the net and it is a shame its full potential isnt used.... But thanks for all the work you all do

What is the point of seeing how many views you have anyway?

If the thread is "news worthy" you will get plenty of responses/stars/flags to let you know so.

I still feel there would be less "kiddie" posts if the point system was gone.

You may be surprised to learn of the expense of running ATS and all the dedicated customized servers it takes to keep ATS running lightening fast.

Im sorry if you thought i was criticizing ATS as i had no intention of.........

Oh no not at all friend. The views deal was taking a lot of resources as I understand the situation. So it was discontinued in an effort to reallocate those resources to serving ats members quicker more reliable page views.

If SO see's this thread he may offer up a much more detailed and accurate depiction of the situation. He's the technical guru/owner guy.

We have unlimited bandwidth, it's the load on the db servers that we have to always keep on top of. You can't imagine how HUGE the data base that is ATS is.
