This is an article about "Erdogan Incident". I am aware that there are some threds on Erdogan-Peres clash in Davos but this article is worth to read. warincontext.org...

I, as someone does not come from "West" can understand Erdogan's behaviour with all my heart and brain. This response was fully emotional, because it represents the voice of the opressed. Yet, this response was also very rational.
I am well aware that Turkey is not the cradle of democracy and Erdogan is not the most suitable person to improve Turkey on the road of democracy. But let bring aside Turkey. This response is actually against the colonial hegemonial structure of all the West. This structure was represented very well during the Davos Conference. First look at the numbers: UN secretary talked 8 min, Arab Secretary talked around 12 min. and got warn from moderator. Erdogan talked around 12 min. And lastly Peres talked 25 min, and with an unbelievable high and disturbing tone and voice. After that everybody thought this will be the end, Israel will say the last word again, as in the "ceasefire". But Erdogan didn't allow this happen. And look what the moderator says: We have to go to dinner. I want to throw up.
It was also disgusting that many European MSM said about Erdogans speech as "speech of hate against Israel". For "West" it is too easy to label anyone as dictator, barbar who comes from "east" and whose thoughts are not in accordance with himself.
But times are changing I think. And this seems as a good sign. I mean we will and we should leave the Bush era behind us. This does not only about Bush himself, but all what he represents. We have to drop see things as black and white. This is harming the world too much.
Note: with "west" i mean the conservative, colonial-imperial hegemony of west, which label everything in the "east" as emotional, irrational, barbaric and produce prototype figures and discorses. I am fully against a duality like west and east totally and I think such a seperation is truly dangerous.
Anyway, take a look to the article

i agree with you, the 'western' governments seem to think they can do whatever they want all the while calling the rest of the world 'undemocratic' 'barbaric' or 'dictatorships' and it really isn't on, they've been treating us as children for too long.

I marched through london against the war in Iraq with over a million other people, we all said it was immoral war fought for profit and we said it would only stur up more trouble but the wouldn't listen, now look at the news! they're all saying 'oh we never could have guessed this would happen, no one could...'

Same with the economic problems, people have ben warning that you can't borrow money orever but only now its too late are they saying 'gee we've over borrowed'

I fear the same for Israel, will in a few years time we look back at the history and say 'gosh who knew the zionists were carzy power hungry psychos who wanted to clear the 'holy land' and start an economic empire in the middle east?'

True..I am very sure, and I know from first hands that in Israel many people actually want to live in peace and reconciliation with its neighbours, but the Israeli Governement and Establishment with the support of Western Establishment play a very stupid game against the will of its very own people.
