We can all stereotype the KKK all day long just as we can stereotype and other Fringe group. In reality the KKK poses no real threat to the nations safety.

Groups such as those detailed below are the ones we should all worry about. They do not discriminate when they choose their victims.

FBI: Burgeoning gangs behind up to 80% of U.S. crime

Criminal gangs in the USA have swelled to an estimated 1 million members responsible for up to 80% of crimes in communities across the nation, according to a gang threat assessment compiled by federal officials.

The major findings in a report by the Justice Department's National Gang Intelligence Center, which has not been publicly released, conclude gangs are the "primary retail-level distributors of most illicit drugs" and several are "capable" of competing with major U.S.-based Mexican drug-trafficking organizations.

The gang population estimate is up 200,000 since 2005.

edit to add:
I certainly don't condone the actions of the KKK. I honestly believe the threat that they pose is mild compared to the threats posed by the rise in violent gang activity all across the country.

This site is an eye opener and is used by law enforcement to ID gang activity, members and symbols.

Wow, I guess I owe Obama an apology.

I honestly did not believe him when he said he was going to unite people the world over, but I guess he really is.

A Global KKK, who would'a thunk it?
Now that's change you can believe in.
Thanks Obama.

That's all I can say.Do the
count as a line? Doesn't matter becaue this is my 3rd.

Everyday I see more reasons making that claim true
specifically white caucasian americans, wherein the lot of them forgot they were the first illegal immigrants.

Unbelievable, such mass stupidity

Please note the extreme irony of using members of a racist organization as the basis for a stereotype that you prejudicially apply to all people of a given color and origin.

I'm white and I'm an American. I gave Obama a fair hearing- I read his book and I followed the news on him quite carefully. I'm more familiar than most Americans with Obama's strengths, weaknesses, and history, and I supported him on his merits as a person and a leader.

I was more fair with Obama than I've ever been with any other politician precisely because I felt an impulse to resist the pressure to dislike him being place on me by bigots and partisan propagandists.

Then I turned around and crossed a congressional candidate off my list of possibles, with no regard for his politics or qualifications, because he kept calling me and asking me stupid questions about advertising with the college newspaper I ran at the time... also his voice just went right to my brainstem, and he actually puts his B.A. after his name as if it were a PhD...

but you get my point- Though I'm a very petty and spiteful person, I go well out of my way to have nothing in common with the KKK and it seems fair that others should not suggest otherwise without cause.

Perhaps you were treated poorly due to your apparent rudeness?

Is this how it works? If you're not rude then people won't be prejudice against you?

Something is wrong here. Who was rude against the 'Dutch' the 'Portugese' the 'Spainish' the 'English' the 'Danish' when they started the slave trade that effected the indigenous people of the planet earth? Who was prejudice against who whenever PEACEFUL marches for basic civil rights were occuring?

Surely, the good Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. didn't spray fire-hoses on men women and CHILDREN....or release attack dogs on men women and CHILDREN. Who was rude against who whenever laws were written the allowed for the dehumanization of men women and children? Who was rude against who when men women and CHILDREN were being lynched and castrated while the audience made a socially fun day out of it by having a picnic and taking pictures of their victims of lynchings and burning and castrations?

While you may have forgotten history of what your people did to others, others didn't and in most cases just can't forget.

This is the issue that will never allow racism to dissapear, white people refusing to understand what their people made others go through.

Even you will say, oh that was a long time ago and my ancestors do not represent my beliefs. But they are still your ancestors, and here we are decades later where racism in this country has only gotten more sophisticated.

I'm not racist, I voted for Obama. LOL
Who was more pro-minority? Obama or Ron Paul?
Why did you vote for Obama? Because he's black, because of his policies that he never spoke of or simply because his marketing team(THE ENTIRE MEDIA) told you to?

I Understand you saying your not racist, but racism is still nonetheless way too overwhelming in America.

Years ago (1988) my high school French club went to Montreal and were treated like second class citizens because they were struggling with their French. In many instances they were completely ignored and laughed at. That was the last year my school ever ventured to Montreal. Based on that experience I could easily generalize the majority of French Canadians as being rude and abrasive just as you generalize the majority of Americans.

I know you are trying to convey to me that it's not only white america that is racist and xenophobic but also white canada.

But that is wrong of you to suggest that all whites are racist!!!

and what in the world is an illegal alien?
recent illegal immigrants are aliens?
my parents were legal immigrants
so are they just legal aliens???

If the majority, as you say, aren't racist then where is the protesting against using this terminology?

Why does Fox News still have soooooo many viewers in the U.S of A?

Why did Bill O'reilly's radio show have so much high ratings?

Where is the protesting against columbus day and thanksgiving day?

not racist? You celebrate every year with turkey with your family celebrating the theft of this land and the decapitation, rape and mass genocide of almost an entire race of people.

There's still confederate flags in many areas.

Gentrification

Actions speak louder than words.

Fine, I get your arguments, majority of white america aren't racist.
Let's believe that for a second.
If so, and knowing the genocide and mass-oppression your ancestors have caused, shouldn't you have a responsibility to be more active in getting rid of the remains of racism as mentioned above?

If I was white, I would!

Imagine if you were human and earth was invaded.
Select humans were captured and brought to another planet as slaves.
Decades later slavery is gone, but still many human-haters.
But humans still lived there, how would these humans look at these aliens on a daily basis?

The KKK has got to be one of the biggest jokes there is today. To hate someone because they look different than you is dumb beyond comprehension. Hate someone becaust they are stupid, or mean, maybe, but different? I am always amazed at the lack of inteligence some continue to display.

Again with your generalizations.

"My people" didn't do anything to anyone. "My people" immigrated to America from Hungary and Bohemia in 1902 and 1913 respectively along with the other millions of people who immigrated to America from Europe and beyond. "My people" struggled to gain a foothold in this country and succeeded in building a family and family owned businesses.

The people you speak of are not my ancestors.

People should not judge Obama upon the color of his skin.
Yes sure for certain there are many African American racist groups that use the stupidity of his skin color to gloat about.
But the fact is he is Harvard law, hes no different than the rest of them.
Most people who support Obama who aren't racist, support him because of his policies.
It is true enough that its a historic milestone in America's history for someone of African heritage to be able to be President.
But this just celebrates the demise of racism, and the uprising of freedom for all people.
All people to be judged upon there own merits, not there class color or culture.
All these people who are joining the KKK because they don't want an African President, are undemocratic and resemble more socialist Nazi's than Americans.

Sad fact is he was elected because of the color of his skin

I personally watched the news around in northern VA when they asked voters who they were voting for and then asked if they knew any of his policies and they flat out said no.

You dont go in voting for someone because he of there skin color or media coverage you vote because you know what your voting for and I am willing to bet that 65% of the people who voted for him did not know what his policies were.

Being from Arkansas and part caucasian many people who aren't from the South will almost always ask me about the Klan. It's a little insulting but I guess I can understand why they ask...it's simply generalization and stereotyping. I try not to take it personally but after awhile it does tend to bother me. Just a southern guy's 2 cents worth. All I know about the Klan I've read and seen on television. They are as foreign to me as any other extremist group.

Then there are 4 kidneys meeting each other, having a chit chat about the alcohol & weather - at last 2 livers cross the one way street, and they are surprised about their yellow colours; the question now: are they chinesh?
And could you pls tell me what was the Heart of the Black and the Heart of White one?

The KKK was pretty much dissolved in the 1960's by so many FBI agents infiltrating it. I imagine any really active group will get their own agents soon enough. Then there's the Southern Poverty Law Center, which specializes in suing Klan groups for a million or more and puts them out of business by bankrupting them. I'm not downplaying the danger the KKK poses--it's very real. And it is a remnant of a terrible time in American history which cannot be downplayed or denied. The prison gang, the Aryan Brotherhood, is now one of the most dangerous gangs in the country. But the fact is the fed has been out to get the KKK for a long time now, if not the local police.

When I was in college about 10 years ago there was a Klan march through our little university town. Some people wanted to go and throw insults and other things at them. We asked the Black Students Organization what they thought we should do. They said by all means DON'T show up and feed their craving for attention. So we didn't. Nothing happened at all. The march they thought would strike terror in people's hearts was a complete fizzle.

I'm not about to argue that racism is dead; it definitely isn't. But the Klan is rapidly going the way of the dodo.

@ModernAcademia

Your vast assumptions, as others have pointed out, are more racist than the racism you're speaking against. Laughable, to say the least. Being the daughter of immigrants and considered white despite the fact that I am not white, my ancestors had nothing to do with the Klan or anything the Caucasians did in the history of the country. In fact, a lot of peoples' ancestors had nothing to do with the slavery or genocide you so thoughtfully pinned on our chests.

Oh, and are you even aware that the slave trade was actually funded & run by the more established African countries? They sold their own people to the highest bidder. The sole blame doesn't belong only to whitey. People in general are greedy and wretched and it's got nothing to do with the color of their skin.
