With no job and 5 kids, 'better to end our lives,' man wrote

But even more incomprehensible to some was the story that emerged after the bodies were found Tuesday: A father who, in a last desperate act after he and his wife were fired from their jobs, killed all six family members before turning the gun on himself.

In a letter faxed to Los Angeles television station KABC before his suicide, Ervin Antonio Lupoe blamed his former employer for the deaths, detailing his grievance against Kaiser Permanente's West Los Angeles Medical Center, where he and his wife, Ana, had worked as technicians.

Truly sad story which reflects how the economy is hurting people, mentally and physically.

When are our leaders going to realise that we need a thriving and healthy population? Enough of greed and corruption, stop pushing people to the brink. Stop giving us little hope and false promises. People should never under any circumstances give up life because of money. We have become so slaves of the system that we are losing our sanity.

This has to stop.

Very sad indeed, the problem may have been the father unwilling to accept public assistance for his family, or that his wife wouldn't work or couldn't find work. I feel for the community at large as well, this was probably a hard blow.

BTW I like your avatar

How sad that as a society we base our self worth on the material.

I don't know the circumstances here but for someone to murder, yes murder, their family because they feel despondent over their financial situation is the height of selfishness.

The fact that we as a society then justify this by saying things like

When are our leaders going to realise that we need a thriving and healthy population?

What are our leaders going to do? They are going to continue to push their agenda of of encourging us to be consumers. We are going to continue to lap it up like good little sheep and when something like this happens we will continue to look to blame others when in fact it is OUR fault for falling hook line and sinker for the mantras that TPTB have been shoving down our throats since WW2.

The economy isn't hurting people - people are hurting themselves by basing their self worth by what car they drive or how big their houses are.

It's time we all got back to basics.

A sad story indeed.

I think that's well said.

Did he kill his family because they were starving and wanted to end their suffering, or because he couldn't handle what others would think of him?

There is another thread on this here:www.abovetopsecret.com...'

In addition it sounds like many here did NOT read up on this:

1) The husband and wife both worked for the same hospital, they were FIRED (not layed off) when they lied about their income to receive subsidized child daycare (guessing they want 5 kids, and they want other people to help pay for raising their 5 kids).

In addition apparently HE filed a discrimination suit to get his job in the first place, so I am not surprised when they were caught lying they were both fired. The suicide not emakes him sound like a total loon, he blames a hospital administrator for "telling him to shoot them all in the head".

2) They DID have somewhere to go. The car was packed with the kids clothing and they were ready to head out to KS to live with her brother.
