Your not born straight or gay, you choose what you want to be. Somewhere along the line you choose your sexuality because something is going to help you choose it i.e the world around you. Im a straight male and i choose to be that way, i could become gay, but i don't want to and i choose not to.

I wouldn't give gay couples the rights due to it shouldn't be viewed as the "correct way". Im not homophobic, it just shouldn't be viewed like this. The world works like this, God made Adam and God made Eve out of Adam. Eve was Adams partner and started the human race, not Adam and Steve. Society should keep it that way.

This makes absolutely no sense to me.

Im straight. I was born straight. For as long as I remember, Ive had feelings for girls that I dont have for boys. There is an emotion, a very powerful magical emotion that I am capable of feeling towards women that Im not capable of feeling towards men. This is something that is hard-wired into me, not something Ive ever had a choice on.

Could I choose to be gay?

Well, I could choose to act gay. I could choose to have gay sex, and to behave with a man as I would with a woman, but it wouldnt be the same. That emotion would not be there.

For some people it is.

I dont know why, but for some people, that attraction, that emotion that I am capable of feeling towards the opposite sex is, in them, is directed towards their same sex.

For most people it does work that way. For some, it doesnt.

Well your right because the emotion will not be there at the start, but it can develop over time and you can develop that emotion for men.

At the risk of sounding homophobic, ewe!

I don't buy it. There is something biological going on, something that's beyond social conditioning that determines sexuality.

I don't buy that.

It was a process of realisation, terror then denial, more realisation more denial etc, etc, then gradual acceptance but still fear at being 'found out' then more acceptence then CHOOSING to act upon my feelings and admitting it.

PS The same thing happened to me with porn in reverse, it definately proved I'm not straight.

That about sums it up right there. The only choice I made was to stop denying to myself and others of what and who I really am. I keep saying it....the only people who really have a choice is bi-sexual people.

Well yes if we take extreme scenarios like doing life for murder and having no access to women, over time a straight mans sexual impulse and emotional needs may adjust towards other men but even then some men would simply masturbate for relief rather than indulge with others. I still can't buy this 'choice' argument as MacMerdin rightly points out only bi-sexuals really have that luxury.
