nixie I really wasn't planning on continuing the game based on what I perceived to be waning interest. Maybe that was based on the difficulty of the last puzzle, I don't know.

I would be willing however to put more energy into this at a later date if I see more members show interest.

I hope you read my last comment on the game you started. I think it's a superb concept.

However, I would urge you to make the question and the clues related to the artwork somehow.

It can be obscure, it can be image-related, or based on some minutiae of the artists life or something along those lines.

To me, the best games are not necessarily extremely difficult, but they are internally consistent and themed.

I mean I could post a question which lead to a clue like this:

NQevyIy8hzs

...and I assure you it's related. In fact, veteran ATS gamers would probably figure it out post-haste. But for this little group of art lovers and amateur gamers it may just be too obscure.

Plus, requiring an external application such as photoshop just adds to the obscurity even to the point that people like me or Nixie who don't have PS can't even participate.

Now, I'm not telling you how to run your game. I think it's a wonderful concept and the way one has to pour over the images and artists ends up helping people become familiar with art and the great masters. Further, if the question and the clue lent itself to studying and researching the Great Masters and their works even more, then we extend this 'hidden benefit' of the game.

Having said that, now that we are aware at just how far out of the box the 'question' might be, I suppose it's ok to do whatever you wish.

Again, apologies for any criticism (which was kind of in jest and certainly did not rise to the level of calling someone EVIL* in 36 point type
), and I hope I don't dissuade you in any way from continuing this game.
.

*PS - Ms D was totally kidding, btw.

No worries, I'm not that wrapped up in your criticism which by the way did not factor in to the closing of the game. If the game continues I will not say what type of game/puzzle will be posted. Future questions my be based on simple trivia or complex analytical thinking that makes one follow any and all trains of thought.

That's all right, man. I should have known better since I participated in ATS official game last year. I was just too busy in World of Warcraft
I have been playing for three weeks and I'm so addicted to it.

Hope you will post another puzzle soon. It has been fun.

I don't think a few days off is a bad idea.

I missed most of the last one because I thought you were done.

Any chance you could start a new thread for simplicity sake?

It has been a stressful last few days but I'm in.

We're keen to your trickery now, KL, and ready to go.

EDIT TO ADD: Just as long as the puzzles require no more math (actual or distraction).

Just as a little note if this is ever an issue in future puzzles –

MacOSX comes with a nifty little application called "DigitalColorMeter" that tells you the RGB values of whatever you put your pointer over. So PShop really wouldn't have been needed.

I don't know if Windows or Linux come with such a thing, but I'm sure that there are freeware versions available.

Just wanted to thank you for this game. It made me remember of the paintings I have seen with my own eyes at a museum in Washington, D.C. The pictures of the paintings don't do it justice. You have to really see them with your own eyes. I have seen Mona Lisa (behind a thick glass, of course) and it's something I cannot describe. I guess you could call it a spiritual awakening

Oh, woe, your eminence, dear leader of scaly followers,
Our plight is deepening; and we crave artsy brainpower.

Humanities we seek, depictions of olden dreams,
A puzzle within frames, numbering one hundred in streams.

We respect your quandary – but grow impatient for segue,
Are your challenges finished? Have you abandoned us midway?

The classics await, we thirst for deep meaning,
It can only be ours if you’d just test our reasoning.

And so, you royal gecko, t-rex, or what-have-you,
Though we beg your indulgence, we crave something anew.

So throw us a new cipher, riddle, or contest.
We promise great interest, we’ll toil without rest.

Of one thing I assure you, your subjects won’t fail.
It is time for a test, some fun – lift the veil!

We are humbled, not worthy, perhaps that is true,
But some food for thought will make us respect you!

So tally no longer – we await your directions.
Pencils are ready! We have the best of intentions!

Today, tomorrow, the next day perhaps,
But please not much longer – Or our memories may lapse!

Thank yee, o most honorable, leader of lizards,
We have spoken, stand ready, prepared to move onwards!
