I think Osama bin Laden was certainly innocent. The family members that were flown out of the country were no doubt innocent as well. However the Bush
administration chose to connect Osama bin Laden to the crime. Their own contradictory actions have led to the questions about the Saudis.
If you are suggesting that the whole Saudi question might be a red herring, you could be right.
Discussing the Saudi issue does throw light on the bigger picture though.
A US embassy official who used to work in the Jeddah office of the immigration service has told a tale of visas being given out without questions to
people who were being recruited by the CIA for guerrilla style combat operations. That's worth looking into.
