I don't want to harp on about class and the effects of class and how the nobility in the UK truly screwed the lower classes, because it all might offend.

I couldn't agree more and if you'd read all posts you'd know that I don't direct my blame at the immigrants themselves. My blame is aimed specifically at the British government. But just because I don't hate the immigrants themselves, does that mean I'm not allowed to try and prevent my government from bringing them into the country in droves?

No it would be more of a joke, it is that simple-it would make the UK today paradise. One definite British trait is the to think 'the grass is greener'-When I was there I was most surprised at the livng standard and how high it was-in many ways more so than Australia.

Either ways bagging immigrants is as working class as getting blind at the pub and as a matter of self-respect should be avoided. Some attitudes are simply stupid and banal and embarrasing even if they 'are the answer'.

England simply isnt the hell hole you think it is-in many ways it is much better than Australia-in ways I could never explain-the defining difference is the attitude: Australia is actually a hot, dry , boring , isolated place-the houses are rubbish and people drive cars you wouldnt p-ss on-but a positive attitude of its people is its greatest asett.

Ask any Pom who tried living in Oz and returned how hard it is to get ahead here-Australians are actually fighters and contrary to perception hard workers-the place itself is no picnic. Most of it is just downright 'Bogan(Australian for Chav)' full of old holdens and fibro houses.
England is quite lavish and bountiful compared to Australia.

Did my last posts portray Australia as paradise??? but..............has the working man been shafted in Australia...NO NO and NO. England isnt going to the dogs, I though it way better than Australia for instance (and the vast majority of Aussies love Australia and think it the best place on earth) and that was comparing pretty base material things-homes cars, shopping, towns. I only returned because it wasnt home to me-not becuase a objectively prefered Oz. Unfortunately this irrational bagging of the UK and imiganing it as worse than it is feeds into irrational right wing poilitical views.
