I apologize if this is in the wrong place, but I just joined and this is my first post. I searched but could not find a thread that seemed right, so I just started a new one. I will be posting quite a few poems, along with essays and whatnot.

Fly

i breathe the dark
i see the wind
i embrace the night
to live again..

i hear the stars.
whispering secrets.
meant only for me.
no sorrow, no regrets..

moonlight shining silver.
spotlight in the sky
nothing is forever.
we all must say goodbye.

moving forward
don't look back.
find the doorway.
there's no turning back..

we all will reach a higher plain.
we all will feel no more pain.
to live again we must die.
but that's the only way to fly.

do not cry for those who've flown away
they watch over us from far away...
and one day soon we all will meet..
and we will be the missed, the unseen..

Sad Goodbyes

As I lay down in this box of wood, As I start to close my eyes;
As I let my last breath free for good, I think of all those sad goodbyes.
As I prepare for my last journey, As I leave my loved ones behind;
I think of how things could have been, But are now just sad goodbyes.
The forever scent of roses will follow me wherever I go,
The last sounds I hear are mournful cries.
The velvety touch of rose petals beneath my fingers
Will forever remind me of those sad goodbyes.
My eyes are now closed, my heart has stopped beating.
God has forgiven all of my lies.
The sun shines down on my eternal slumber
And my soul floats to Heaven amid those sad goodbyes.

I tried to post but a messsage popped up saying I don't have permission to post. After that I read a thread in that forum which stated I need to be a member for a month before I can post. Is that right or did I somehow end up in the wrong place? Anyway, here is the poem I was going to post there:

Amie turned 16 today,
She wishes she could get away.
One more drag and one more drink;
She feels herself begin to sink.
Amie's taking her last trip soon,
This time she's sailing to the moon.
Floating, she begins to cry;
Amie didn't mean to say good-bye.
All she wanted was to get away;
Escape the pain for one more day.
No more sorrows anymore,
Now Amie's knocking on Heaven's door.
