There seems to be some confusion about what I said, and what people may want to think I said. Here is what I actually said:

The only people or entities I have personally heard talking about Obama as some sort of Messiah or Chosen One are the people that fear and hate him.

I know a lot of people who support Obama, and not one of them thinks he's anything but a man, and all of them, to a person, are skeptical he can fully succeed, given what he's been handed. And all of them fully expect to disagree with him on more than one issue.

Get yur hand off it.

Note that I did not say anything about whether anybody considers Obama a Messiah figure. I was talking about my experience, both online and off, and the people with whom I have communicated.

The examples referenced here and here merely indicate the existence of a far end of a Gaussian, or Normal, distribution.

Basically, to put this into context, if a large number of people are queried about their opinion of Obama, a relatively small number will consider him a Messiah figure, another relatively small number will consider him a demon, and the vast huge majority will see him as a man, facing an exceptionally daunting challenge.

The same effect can be seen for George Bush, or could have at one time, when some people considered him to be great president, or greatest president?

And at this point in time, I probably don't need to dig up links for the other end of that curve. And still, the majority of people consider George Bush just a man, who made some bad decisions and took some poor actions.

So I stand by my assertion - what I actually said, not what some may want to infer:

1) I have not personally had any contact with anyone, online or off, who supports Obama and thinks of him as a Messiah or savior.

2) I have had substantial contact with people, mostly online, who fear and hate Obama and claim his supporters all consider him such.

3) The only people I have personally communicated with that make claims about Obama as Messiah, are those that fear and hate him.

There has been no evidence presented here to cause me to reconsider my position.

To be idolized is defined as being a god, lets just hope that Obama never believes he is one.

What scares me more is what might happen if their new savior happens to get killed. Bye bye USA.

I don't see Obama as anykind of savior but if he can straighten out the mess that Bush left; perhaps he might have some supernatural powers.

What do you think, and what do you speculate could be the dangers of enough of the population seeing him as some kind of Messiah?

Remember in 90 days his Honey Moon with America will be over. In 200 years in the future if our country and World are still around it will be interesting what is said about this Savior of the World Economy, Messiah. Maybe he would be remembered 200 years from now of riding a donkey down Pennsylvania Ave. instead of a Stretched Limo Cadillac in front of the Whitehouse. No disrespect but we know how history can be skewed and changed in history books.

The only danger I think at present with people thinking he is the Messiah is putting to much faith in one man. I hope he helps pull the economy out of the mess we are in, only time will tell. It will take a true miracle to get us out of this mess our country is in today and tomorrow.

If Obama is a deity, then Bush must have been God.

We tend to place too much faith in a new president, and when expectations are not answered place too much blame on that President.

Obama cannot possibly live up to the hopes, faith and exaggerated expectations so many Americans have in him to fix everything, with immediate and substantial results.

You watch how quickly the American people will turn on Obama when he is unable to deliver them from war and financial collapse while providing jobs and prosperity for all.

This love-fest with Obama will be short-lived, the honeymoon will as well, the time the American people are willing to wait for Obama to fix everything is also quite short.

Like rabid dogs, the people will turn on the new president. Unless he can actually part the sea and deliver Americans real Miracles, and soon.

I have seen what I think you're talking about, too. On TV. But I have never seen it or heard it from the people I know who support Obama. And I don't think any of it is "dangerous" (depending on what you mean by that word).

If people are truly thinking that Obama is some sort of deity or Messiah, in the actual sense of the word, then they are going to be disappointed when they find out that he's just a man. And not only that, he's a politician. And a lawyer.

So, is disappointment "dangerous"? I don't think so.

And I think it's easy to see people fawning over him and misinterpret their true feelings. This guy is LOVED and RESPECTED and there's nothing wrong or scary about that, in my opinion. Many of his supporters (myself included) think that he's going to make a sorely-needed difference in this country as its president. And we are excited and hopeful about that. That doesn't mean we think he's a freaking Messiah.

In my view, there is NO WAY that the majority of the population is going to see him as some kind of savior. As Open_Minded Skeptic illustrated here, these people who a little too "adoring" of Obama (by some people's judgment), are just those at the far extreme of normal distribution.

And I would caution people not to attribute those "religious" emotions to the vast majority of Obama supporters (like myself), who support and respect Obama a lot, but fall more toward the center of The Bell Curve. That's when it becomes "scary". If you think every Obama supporter is a religious follower of some sort, then it's probably going to seem a little scary. But that simply doesn't map to reality.

None of those people I gave reference to 'hate' or 'fear' him.
They adore him. Literally.
You don't want to reconsider your position after seeing the facts?
Okay ... your choice. But the facts stand.

For me, it's not as much of a concern with respect to Obama's supporters. But what really gets me is the MSM approach to Obama.

I don't hear sober, arms-length analysis where he's concerned. For the most part, it's either gushing adoration or, to a much lesser extent, extreme idiotic anti-Obama commentary.

It's pathetic how we have entertainment masquerading as news...

*sigh*

Hey there loam.
Every president enjoys a honeymoon period. This one will have one that's a bit longer because everyone was so fed up with Bush43. Eventually you'll see things even out in the press. I HOPE.

I think this is a simple matter of a misunderstanding.

I totally agree. That's the way the MSM has been operating for several years now and it's pretty sad. I've been calling it "EntertaiNews" for some time, now.

I find it astonishing to find truly "fair and Balanced" news it has to come from out of the country. PBS isn't to bad but leans pretty far left.

news.bbc.co.uk...

topic.....Is calling Obama the antichrist a form of Deification?
Our more conservative members seem fond of that one.

His original statement was this - and I'll put it in bold letters since you like them so much
The only people or entities I have personally heard talking about Obama -

That's different then had personal contact with - which is what he said on page two but not on page one. He changed it. It's different.

I'm pretty sure the OP was talking about deification by followers.

But since you bring it up - anti-christ is a spiritual remark isn't it?

Other than human.
Either God incarnate or a human possessed by the Devil.
