143 = 51(triple 19, bull, double 18)

166 or 172.

That would be correct if three times 19 would be 51 yes

triple 19 + bull + double 18 = 143.

I reckon it is 166 or 172.

Yes I thought of that pesky triple 19 just after I posted.

Hmm, trying to put this together without a mod 2 or mod 3 test...

Forget 143 you have multiple ways of hitting that.
Btw 166 is close but incorrect.

Ian you gave some reason, and it didn't really matter you started from 301. But 143 is incorrect. It's actually the first number most people come up with. But 60+57+26 = 143.

You don't need to end with a double. Anything goes.

Do you have to score with the first two darts ? If not the asnwer is 23 ?

3 darts can get all scores from 1 - 60
and
3 darts can get all scores from 61 - 120
leaving one dart
so lowest score one dart cant get is 43 after considering treble 19 18 17........
so 163

After reconsidering, the answer has to be;
1 max score
2 max score
3 first prime above 43

Correct ?

GG, and with an explanation.

For other people figuring it out in their head:

Long:
All even numbers from 140 up to 160 can be achieved by 120 + a double.
Now all odds can be achieved up to 157 by T20+T19+Double.
So we know anything berlow 158 is possible.

159 = T20+T20+T13.
By incrementing the last treble you eliminate 162, 165, 168, 171, 174, 177, 180.
So now we have narrowed it down to 161,163,164,166,167,169,170,172,173,175,176,178,179.

The bullseye is worth 50. You can see that 161=T20+T17+50.
BY incrementing the last treble, you eliminate 164,167,170.

Now we have 163 unsolved and regular bulls will be of no help because 120+25=145.

Therefore the lowest impossible score is 163.

Shorter:

You can't throw more than 120 with 2, so the lowest possible needed for the first, second or last dart is 43. Then you can try to compensate with 2, 5, 7, 8, 11, 14, 17.
The other two darts combined can only be 120, (2) 117 (5), 114 (7), 111(8), 108(11), 105,(14) 102(17).

Does this work out or is it luck.

There are 43 possible numbers you can throw with one dart.
60-43=17.

3x60=180 ; 180-17=163.
