Does Oprah think Obama is the Messiah?

This is a quote from an article dated 12/9/07 at a political rally in SC where Oprah appeared with the new President.

"It isn't enough to tell the truth, Winfrey said. "We need politicians who know how to be the truth."

Winfrey also recalled a story from "The Autobiography of Miss Jane Pittman," a 1974 film based on Ernest Gaines' 1971 novel.

In Winfrey's telling, the protagonist – an old woman who had survived slavery and the Civil War – would ask every child, "Are you the one? Are you the one?"

"I do believe I do today we have the answer to Miss Pittman's question – it's a question that the entire nation is asking – is he the one?" Winfrey said. "South Carolina – I do believe he's the one."

According to one academic discussion of the book by Christopher Mulvey, a professor at University of Winchester in the United Kingdom, the passage continues to ask whether the child is the one who will "carry part of our cross," a "messianic figure."

Oprah

Since he was elected Oprah has spent several millions on a house in Washington DC so that she can be near him. She has even recently when he was looking for a new chef for the White House offered him her chef , Art Smith.

Perhaps, like many others she just feels that he is what this country needs , or a great gratitude that this is the first step in ending racialism in the USA. But I would like to read what others think.

Protip: No credible Obama supporters believe Obama is the one or the messiah. I like Obama. I think he is more like Reagen, I guess, from what I read about Ronald Reagen, I would say that he is more like that, and, thinking about Obama as compared to Reagen helps you think about why people like Obama and why people think of Obama as a breath of fresh air etc.

What is all this nonsense with Oprah and Obama anyway? It is like as if Oprah has been throwing herself in front of the cameras and media attention with anything to do with Obama....what is it that Oprah has to be up in the spotlight with anything to do with Obama?

Doesnt she have a tv show to go produce or something?

Dude, she's obviously using this fame so that she can get higher ratings! That's why she supported Obama. She figured if she could get more people to love Obama than needed and could get the same amount of people to watch her show then her show would even be a bigger hit and she would make even more money! Or maybe, she just enjoys the attention and it has nothing to do with Obama but she's like under a trance where she feels like she must be in front of a camera 24 7 talking to the media or something.

Is that sarcasm? From what I know about Reagen Obama is in a similar situation. I believe Reagen came after Jimmy Carter (correct?) so it's like that but now it's not Jimmy Carter it's Bush. Also, Reagen revitalized the economy... so maybe Obama will do the same.

A TV show , a magazine , a bookclub, webinars with Eckart Tolle, Satelite Radio Show, Broadway Producer, but who wouldn't have time to hang out with the President or even more so the Messiah!

Oprah has always been really religious.

Am I the only one that feels bad about Operah since she basically is fueling the claim by Obama's critics that these people like Operah think that Obama is the messiah? I stand by my claim that no credible Obama supporters believe he is the messiah.

With all that activity, she better be careful or she might start to neglect one or more of those venues and dig her own media grave.

I tend to think its just taking advantage of the situation..but it isnt like Oprah needs the media coverage...or does she.

Then you dont live in North Carolina. Here folks say he is a Messiah. Also On Tv there was a Minister that said he was as great as Moses bringing his people out of Egypt. Also others have spoken of him being a Messiah. In fact Obama himself said that he wasnt born in a stable like most folks believed he was. So yes they do believe him to be one. Even Obama said it.

Maybe she is looking to get into politics herself. Why not, all it takes is knowing the right people and having the support of the media. It is basically a popularity contest now, just like running for class president in High School. She already has a huge following among Americans and is on TV everyday. When people acquire a lot of wealth there is nothing left but power to gain. Her hanging around Obama helps her get in the political scene.

Why does this not suprise me at all......

Come to think of it, it seems that the whole planet thinks he is some kind of magical bieng that is going to all of a sudden undo the wrongs in the world......

There are going to be a lot of very unhappy people in 2-3 yrs time when they realise that all the hype was in fact just that ...... HYPE

I believe to most blacks he is like a messiah. I feel sorry for the blacks. Because he isn't a messiah and he is just a human being. So he will fall short no doubt. However, it is all about intent. If you fail but you tried your best to make positive changes than that is human error. If your intent is malicious than that is just evil like the illuninati agenda.
