I am flabbergasted!! Isn't the idea of ending racism - even "reverse-racism" part of the Obama Plan?

If so, how can these people go on the record saying these things?

Updated title

This goes hand in hand with This thread.

What ever happened to the idea of the best qualified for the job, regardless of race, creed, color, or religion??

Oh yeah, I remember, affirmative action

Assuming that this is not dubbed, it is so insane. I guess nothing surprises me any more. Things that I never dreamed would happen in my lifetime are now happening. It really is like a bad nightmare .

If that isn't dubbed and hits the MSM all heck is going to break loose. I tried to listen and watch their lips and it seemed to be what they where saying in most of it.( couldn't tell in a few parts) That is truly the most hideous thing I have ever heard coming from government officials.
Everyone is in hard times regardless of the color of their skin or the religion they follow. Singling out certain people(s) isn't what we elected these people to do.

Why is this a surprise to anyone? This is exactly what Barry was promising to his congregation during his campaigning. How do you think he was going to get the money to them so they didn't have to work a day to pay for their homes, cars, and rest of their expenses? If you "hire" someone strictly on their color and sex, and pay no attention to their actual skills set and experience, then you're basically giving them money for nothing, because nothing will be accomplished for the money.

I wish I shared your point of view. Reverse racism is very accepted these days. I don't see why the MSM would get worked up about it now.

I would be very interested to see how this would be enforced. I work for a GC company and have a say in the subcontractors we hire for the projects. I think this would be a huge mistake and honestly see no logic behind this at all? I always thought quality, skill, and experience were important..... but skin color lol. I say let the best man get the contract.

Aside from the fact that there should be no stimulus money PERIOD. I think that you are blowing it a little out of proportion when you say it's "reverse racism". I think that Reich was attempting to say that the stimulus money should be spread around to OTHER groups and not only "White Male Construction Workers". It was bad wording on his part, but I doubt it was reverse racism.

Nice. Reparations, stimulus, what's the difference?

All heck wont break loose. The sheep have been trained since birth that white skin equates to owing everyone everything. We should all be slaughtered and strung up so our draining blood can nurture the fields of the hungry non-whites.

I have a hard time swallowing your defense of Reichs.

REICH: …”I am concerned, as I’m sure many of you are, that these jobs not simply go to high-skilled people who are already professionals or to white male construction workers…I have nothing against white male construction workers, I’m just saying there are other people who have needs as well.”

DON'T GIVE the jobs go to people with track records and experience. WE SHOULD NOT judge stimulus recipients on the content of their resumes as opposed to the color of their skin.

There are other people who have needs as well.

Spoken like a true-blue wealth redistributor. The “needs” (read: demands) of politically protected minorities trump the need for competently build roads and bridges.

And let's not forget this part...

RANGEL: And one thing you can depend on, you don’t have to be worried about what the middle-class is gonna do. Things are so bad. They have to put food on their tables. Clothes for their kids. Get them in school. I think this is a tremendous opportunity for a stronger America.

Middle-class America is too consumed with their daily lives to oppose this idea - How ya like THEM APPLES?

Rangel wraps up by advocating that Reich “force” and “mandate” his social engineering “criteria” for stimulus spending.

So much for “post-racialism.” So much for “setting aside childish things.” The Age of Obama has resurrected the same old bean-counters.

So exactly what do YOU think he was saying???

As a white male construction worker i think i get what he is saying, it's easy for people who have been used to living a certain way to think the world has ended when all of a sudden they're forced to live a lowlier lifestyle - i would be gutted if i couldn't afford my internet and all my european holidays. I would consider myself hard up compared to most middleclass people that i see in the news papers and news stations, however compared to a vast chunk of the population i'm living in a world of milk and honey.

The economic collapse is going to show people what it's like when things go wrong, when its hard to make ends meet and when it's almost imposable to survive.- it would be a great sadness and horrible injustice if all the 'white builders' were to kick up such a fuss that they get all the aid while the people who could only just survive in the good times are once again ignored in the bad times.

Yes by mentioning the fact they're 'white' he was being a little racist, so what? how old do you think he is? look at him. Imagine his childhood, his teen years -do you think he can remember when MLK was shot? think he can remember how he felt at he race riots? Of course he has a race hang up, a persecution complex, etc -that doesn't all go away just because of one magic negro! This racial distrust needs to melt away, that won't happen if all everyone does is obsess over who's a mild racist, etc, etc.

I wasn't DEFENDING anyone. I was simply saying that I think this is being blown a little bit out of proportion. If you actually read my post, I don't support stimulus money at all.

Why isn't anyone upset about the second part? The part where they want to bypass the State Legislatures, in some slick way, and mandate to the States what and specially WHERE to spend these funds regardless of where the States think will get the biggest bang for the buck. They are seriously trying to be a State of their own.

I'm not sure this is constitutional and I'm not convinced this will fly as long as people pay attention. That's a big IF cause they're probably right about people being distracted...

Oh there is plenty to be upset about lol, but like I posted earlier I work in the construction industry so the first part hits a little closer to home for me. I do agree though this short video clip gives us lots to be angry about.

If anything, that's what I think is the more important part of that video. Not this "reverse racism" crap. I would like to point out that "reverse racism" is, guess what, EQUALITY. "Racism" isn't a word that ONLY refers to one group of people. Get a dictionary.

I would make a bigger deal about the taxation without representation bit, but we're obviously more concerned about "reverse racism".

THANK YOU!

I am thrilled someone caught that!

IIRC, wasn't the Civil war about State's Rights?

You don't get it. The reverse racism is not the issue. The issue is our economy runs off of competition between companies, it keeps costs lower and quality higher. When the government starts rewarding people based on skin color, if you are a white business owner or a white worker, whats the point in competing? Wheres the incentive knowing it isn't about work ethic anymore but race.

I don't support rewarding ANYONE over what color skin they have. I'm simply saying that calling it "reverse racism" is incorrect. There's no incentive for anything anymore. I live in a place where it is hard for me to get a job because my last name is "Santiago" and I lived most of my life in California. I get passed up in favor of people who have lesser skills than I do BUT who have the last name of "Smith". It's happened to me on more than one occasion and I've actually been told that they don't need anymore "bilingual" employees.
