I can not have any respect for a President who refers to the Constitution as a "goddamn piece of paper".

To me, that statement said it all.

I only hope Obama works out to be a better President.

...but I'm not holding my breath....

He never said that. That came out of an internet rumor mill.

This thread is pretty much proof that history will portray Bush as somewhat of a "hero" for what he did.

It's only been a few days and look at what everyone is already saying. Give it 10 years when we see the real results of his administration.

He'll be on currency...

Anyone ever seen the music video by Serj Tankian titled 'Empty Walls'.

Raising the terrer alert level evertime their already suspect intel hears some 'terrorist chatter' or carting out Dick Cheney from hiding to say things like 'We could still be attacked at anytime'. Invading Iraq under false pretenses and giving the terrorist a breeding ground to attack Americans.

This my friend is a false sense of safety, its basic fear mongering. Once your scared crapless youll only be safe until someone tells you your safe.

No, I don't know that atheists should be considered as citizens, nor should they be considered patriots. This is one nation under God. GW Bush

I agree with this statement 500%. America was founded on IN GOD WE TRUST. America was not founded on atheism. It amazes me, how people run around asking why our country is in the shape that it is in? Well when you take GOD out of your nation you become a godless nation full of pure evil, disease, war, suffering, starvation, economical turmoil. A nation that is in slavery of the fear of there own safety and well being. We are not free folks, you want to know why? We have denied our GOD, the Alpha, the Omega, the first and last, our creator that is why we are no longer free. I am proud GW was my president and we were better off that he was.

President Bush kept America safe for the last 7+ years. We took the wars back to where it started over 3,000 years ago and attacked those that attacked us. These people do not follow the Geneva Convention, they are not part of any Army, they are terrorists and need to be killed.

That being said...

President Bush did execute some Executive orders along the line of JFK (which are still in effect. Look them up. They’re a long list to add in this post)

The comments and (so far) the actions of Barack Hussein Obama (Aka Barry Soetoro) became President he will shred what we had left of the Constitution of America.

Thank you Liberal Sheepole for taking us down the path to Socialism and decay.

Either Candidate all was lost… I wish you all the best in the New World Order.

I have a plan to survive. Called vote the ELITES out of office the next Election.

It’s time to vote in the Average Joe, get rid of the rich controlling the Congress and Senate.

We need to take our Country back to a time when the rich did not control everything and the working person could be elected without buying votes, or having dead people vote for them (ACORN)

WAKE UP TAKE OUT THE GARBAGE AND TAKE OUR COUNTRY BACK.

WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE A COUNTRY OF THE PEOPLE, BY THE PEOPLE, FOR THE PEOPLE.

TIME TO TAKE IT BACK.

PEACE… OR NOT

I guess I don't have to worry about derailing this thread. So I will ask: why do you call him that? Is that his real name or something? Some links please? Thanks!

I am not proud to call him president, I do not believe he is a bad person, but I am proud.

I am proud to call him gone!

I'm sure you expected this to be a calm rational thread.

If not for the Bailout and out of control spending I would be mostly for him also. At best he was no worse than any other and better than some.

We have not been through another attack and for that I thank him. We and the World are better off without Sadam and for that I thank him.

I am less than enthusiastic about other things though. We have someone new and I pray that he makes the right decisions also.

Besides, it's incredibly stupid to talk about what someone MIGHT do when they've haven't even been in office 48 hours.

Politics is all about speculation about what politicians might do.Furthermore you were talking about Bush being the biggest partisan divider. Many threads show that Obama isn't fairing any better so far.

Very refreshing and honest. Glad to see you posting at ATS.

I think every President is obviously at the mercy of Congress and Special Interests. People delude themselves into thinking he could do things his way if he wanted to.

Congress could have stopped the speculators two years previous had they truly wanted too. The bill was there, the knowledge was there and even though the Democratic Party had control they did nothing. There is blame to go around. Both Parties failed us.

As long as we refer to ourselves as Democrats and Republicans rather than as Americans we will not succeed at the level we have proven we are capable of.

All your praise for Bush is very touching. I want to know what praise you can say to the families of the servicemen killed in action for a War that is unfounded in Iraq. While I believe in strength through conviction I also believe not to enter into a conflict that was trumped up and denounced later for supposed Weapons of Mass Destruction. Speaking of destruction this one man has pretty much destroyed the economy of this Country that no other President has even come close too! I do not believe that President Bush will ever be missed and just seeing the charisma of Obama still reminds me of the late great John Kennedy.

You FAIL.

You know what you tell a family of a fallen serviceman? You tell them that your son/daughter gave their life for their country and their sacrifice will always be remembered.

When you sign onto the military, you know damned well that it may mean you get into combat and that you lay down your life. So don't act like these were innocent civilians caught off guard, killed without any means to defend themselves. They knew what they were getting themselves into when they enlisted.

That said, you also FAIL to remember that Congress had the exact same intelligence reports on Iraq that Bush had and they overwhelmingly authorized the war.

You also FAIL to realize that one man cannot and did not cause the economic mess that this country is in. Again, Congress shares the blame with Bush, Clinton and American people who overextended their ability to pay for a house they could not afford. You FAIL to remember history.

You just FAIL at everything and you can't even compose a halfway coherent post without hiding behind anonymity like a coward.

Semper, I wish I had the power to applaud you for this thread. Thank you for starting it.

It was very reassuring to have a Commander in Chief who was dedicated to the protection of our nation above all other issues. He succeeded wildly. He never bowed to the winds of popularity polls or public opinion.

In 30 years, record will be released which will amaze people. They will tell the tale of plots smashed because of President Bush's efforts.

I have already sent emails to him and Mr. Cheney thanking them for their service. God bless them both, and best wishes for good health and long life.

LOL!

I'm sorry. That is all I can muster.

Bush succeeded at being president about as much as logic has succeeded with some of you.

bush sucked. He stuck to his convictions? what a lame thing to say. what president hasn't stuck to their convictions? a smart one, when their convictions suck. and bush jr's convictions sucked, but he wasn't smart enough or man enough to admit he was wrong and correct his mistakes. I'm glad he's gone and I hope we've learned a lesson from this horrible president. I never want to see another president elected because of worthless political issues. abortion, gay marriage, gun control, and religion should have no influence on who you vote for. I'm tired of these "issues" coming up every election. They have nothing to do with the president's job, they have nothing to do with the people voting either. People should be free to abort, gay marry, buy guns, and worship any god they want. you don't like any of those things, don't do any of them and stay out of other people's business.

So I should be EXILED from my own country or put in jail because being an Atheist makes me somehow unpatriotic.

Is Tennessee part of Afghanistan now ???

Hello 5th,
I made no statement what so ever at having atheist exiled or put into prison. Each human has their own right to believe what they wish AS LONG AS IT DOES NOT INFRINGE ON OTHER PEOPLES RIGHTS. If I believe in GOD and you believe in monkeys that is fine I won't take your monkeys away and you do not take my GOD away. That is my point I believe in free will. At our local court houses I should be able to put up the Ten Commandments and you should be able put up charts of how you think you evolved from an animal. It should be everyone’s choice. During the minute of silence (if we still had that right) at school if my daughter wants to pray to GOD and your son wants to pick lice out of his brothers hair in honor of his believed ancestors then to each their own. I simply think that we all have rights that should be defended and unbiased. What is wrong with that? I do not want to take your rights away and I will be damned if you will take mine away. Fair enough?

Fair enough...

LET us have abortions with our OWN bodies- let men pump other men and you can do
what ever you want.

I wish it was that easy.

Oh by the way yer daughter can prey during reading time, before lunch, after lunch, standing in line, on her way to school, after school , in the bathroom, on the play ground, before the bell rings... OR WHEN ever she wants to -(except while driving. if she does)- Why not just do it????

There you go - My kid will flick his lice in yer daughters milk while she is bowing her head during recess. Then he will burn in hell and yer daughter will have the last laugh.
