Adventures in static electricty

With everything working great, super low cpu temps and so on...................

I got up from my chair and touched the case, there was a loud zap and it all stopped.

It refused to turn back on at all.

I let out a loud series of profanit's and took completely apart it apart.

Fortunatly for me I had another rig with completly compadable hardware.

One by one:
I tested my Water cooling unit-it lived

I tested my 8800gt OC-it lived
I test my x-fi extreme music-it lived
I test my 4 gigs cl4-ddr2-800 ram-it lived
I tested my quadcore-it lived
I tested my dvd burner-it did not live
I tested my motherboard-it did not live :bnghd:

Well, a new MSI P7N later and I am back and running.

I have planes to get a static strap, the kind you plug into an electrical socket for grounding.

If the grounding problem was with the plug, your second rig should have felt it too.
