China 'wants strong links to US'

China wants improved military relations with the United States when Barack Obama becomes president.

But a senior military official made it clear that it wants the US to stop selling arms to Taiwan, a self-governing island that China considers its own.

The comments came at an event to unveil a biennial military report.

This says that China's security situation is improving, although it still faces a number of threats.

is this china coming in with the , i ow you slips from the US
and converting them into *favers* wanting stronger ties and new toys?

they already get the stuff from Isreal which they RIP off from the US, so would it make a diffrence going straight to the source then going through espinage and copied goods?

It sounds to me like China is hoping to be at the forefront of the wheeling and dealing with Obama's new administration. As well, if the US keeps selling military supplies to Taiwan, then China wont be able to dominate them as easily and bring them back under their control.

I would tend to agree with you that it sounds like the favor train might just pulling into Obama's station.
