Israel completes Gaza troop withdrawal

news.yahoo.com

JERUSALEM (Reuters) – Israel said it completed a troop pullout from the Hamas-ruled Gaza Strip on Wednesday, starting its relationship with U.S. President Barack Obama by quitting Palestinian land devastated by its 22-day offensive.

"As of this morning, the last of the Israel Defense Forces soldiers have left the Gaza Strip and the forces have deployed outside of Gaza and are prepared for any occurrences," an army spokesman said, about 13 hours after Obama's inauguration.

Well this is good news! let's just hope it lasts this time, Will Hamas break the silenced gunfire agin? who knows but for now at least both sides can "lick" their wounds and take care of the wounded and allow for some peacefull nights. Maybe a series of peace talks will commence and some sort of agreement can take shape, benefiting both sides.

This is almost perfect proof this war in gaza had something heavily to do with united states policy. For what reason would Israel pull out troops just because its bush's last day? It just screams of Israel being the USA's proxy. Does anyone else have any ideas on why they chose the date for the pullout ?

They have to pull out or kill them all. Nobody will take the people of palistine and israel does not want to kill all of them. So they pull out now and in a few years they will go at it again. The onl thing that shocked me about this war was all the coverage it got this time. Israel has been fighting them every few years since israel was established after WW2.
