Crying? For what? Because you like the new puppet show? Cause he's half black? He has yet to prove anything. 11 years ago he was starting his political career in the state legislator. What were you doing 11 years ago? I have a hard time believing anyone could do what he has done without some serious help from the the puppet masters.

My fear is that he is not only a puppet, but a Trojen Horse.

Even though I believe that Obama may end up being another government puppet, I did shed a tear. I use to always say there will never be a black president of the USA but I was wrong. It is very progressive of Americans to start to let go of racism. But I hope and pray that Obama really tries to change things for the better.

What a bunch of idiots crying for Obama. He is a bankers shill. It would be great to have a black President if the office of the President had any power. Once you idiots realize where the power in the world lies then maybe we will have a chance. These people will use the white guilt to take our freedom (what we had) and our future ability to make a good life. Understand that there WILL be a terrorist act and our freedoms as we know it will be gone. I wish him all the luck but I realize he is only a figurehead. He is the Pied Piper leading us to our slaughter.

Did anyone watch the inauguration on TV and was anyone curious about the guards dressed in black uniforms with silver trim with the arm bands that said "USHE" Any clue what that means? -Gunaire

With that statement you speak of primarily finiancial and political power, neither of which is as influential as most think. Whites do NOT in fact have the cultural power that blacks have as far as pop culture and popular sympathetic thought is concerned, particularly where todays youth are concerned.

In a class of race relations that was taught by an ultra-liberal Obama-lovin' graduate student, we watched the video of L'il Wayne's "Lollipop." My personal feeling was that the single was an example of the cultural supremacy of Blacks. However, one attractive young white girl pointed the video and the song out as a product of "white construction." Its an absolutely ignorant assertion, as we all know (and even I pointed out) how Blacks have essentially created a culture separate from the rest of the America, one that eventually creeped into the mainstream and grabbed a hold on American youth. Yes, whites and others exploit it, but the idea that L'il Wayne was "manufactured" by Whites is just absurd and pure conspiracism at best. L'il Wayne knows what he's doing, nobody is forcing him to take on that image and sing that crap (you can't spell "crap" without "rap," right?).

My point being, I completely agree with you on the notion that Blacks have cultural supremacy since the late '80s. Always have thought so and always will.

This isnt a case of buying a bigger house in a whiter neighborhood..its a case of popular thought and accepted societal reactions and standards. A rally by whites is ridiculed, white pleas for 'equal attention' culturally are laughed down ---and blacks know and understand this tactic and mechanism perfectly and expect it to be the case simply because its very culturally accepted to deny the white race simple luxuries such as grouping or associating exclusively with other whites.

Its the "rally by whites" notion I take exception to, however. It seems like you agree that whites control wealth and political power in American society. If so, then why on Earth is a "white rally" even necessary? Your assertion is based largely on the belief wealth and power do not go as far as it may once had and cultural power holds more water. You do have a point, as Barack Obama's initial "attractiveness" was the idea a Black man could become president (as stated by the brave Geraldine Ferraro).

But when it comes down to the wire, what matters more? The music on the radio, or the ability to feed, clothe, and educate yourself and your family? Culture comes and goes, it warps and changes. For all we know rap and hip-hop culture could die out within the next decade and youth of the next generation will be listening to country. Even if rap reigns supreme, Generation Y, in retirement age, will probably have gotten tired of hearing about bitches and ho's. Yet the need to support oneself and family, as well as ensure survival and the pursuit of happiness will trump any of these other distractions.

You and I are at an impasse, as you clearly place greater emphasis on cultural power. I do not disagree with you there. But I don't think there is any way to challenge the fact that the ability to harbor wealth, political power, and experience secure, fulfilling lives is more important than the ability to tell those who control much of their fates that they are racist, or whatever they say. After all, not all Blacks become rappers. In addition, the ability to cry "reverse racism" shows the entrechment of colorblindness in today's society. Its become so entrenched that we do not even notice racism anymore. We always look for the big markers, such as culture, but the fact is, its in the most mundane of things, in everyday life.

On the issue of rallies, Whites have no reason to have rallies. They hold ultimate power in American society. A rally would be rubbing it in, would it not? Not to mention there isn't really a "white culture" to speak of anyway. The White population is so diverse to the point we might as well just start with St. Patrick's Day and branch off from there. Then again, America should celebrate no culture but American culture.

Some may be wondering how I am seemingly holding two different positions on the issue. Well, I'm not. Race relations is a very complex matter and thus, my own position is very complex. Racism still exists, but I also happen to be very pragmatic about the issue. I will never tolerate the assertion that Whites are disadvantaged compared to Blacks, as well the notion that the plight of Blacks is due purely to a lack of "individual responsibility." However, I will smack down any Black or non-White who implies that people of a particular race have no right to associate with people like themselves, unless they are racist. If they do not want racism to be judged on an individual basis, then these liberals need to stop complaining about personal behavior.

I read halfway down the first page and I thought the CIA took over ATS for a moment! I mean, snap out of it! Crying!? There are people dying all over the world in wars! :shk:
That is what we should be crying for....

www.abovetopsecret.com...

I agree it is good that a 50% black / 50% white man can now be president. The change we will DEFINITELY see is different skin color and more eloquent speech delivered from the supposed man that represents us all in the U.S.

I actually have much sympathy for him and his family to have to endure at least 4 years of hell that was left to him, and under the watchful eyes of the power elite !

EDIT: In regards to the CIA, just look!

I am personally breathing a sign of relief.

Maybe the eight years we have endured as a country run by a complete and utter moron is over.

Maybe American's have finally seen the light and now see that what we need is a President who is intellegent and has some ethics.

I want to hope that "yes we can" turn this country around.

I want to be proud again to be an American.

I want to believe in freedom and not a police state in the name of "Homeland Security".

I want to hold my head up high again to the rest of the world and be able to say yes I am a member of a just, civilized and united nation.

This isn't about race or slavery (at one point far enough back most of us came from slavery stock - even "white folk").

"There is not a black America, a white America, a Asian America - there is only a United States of America" Obama

And maybe just maybe the new President really will work for the American People and not the rich lobbyist corporations who have plundered our country's wealth in the name of greed.

Barack Obama has a heck of a job before him, Bush really did a lot to destroy the very soul of this country.

I am reading two of Obama's books, "The Audacity of Hope" and "Dreams of My Father". Highly recommended. He is a very elequent and intellegent writer.

I personally have great hopes and expectations for the next four years.

The last eight years have been rough on our country as a whole.

If you go far enough back most of us come from slave stock.

Good now you could finally get over using race as an excuse for everything. It is whites fault there are ghettos, it is the white mans fault there are crimes in ghettos.. Blahh Blahh Blahh! There is no excuse for all the bull anymore. People get themselves out of bad situations. People don't have kids they can't afford so they can provide a better life for the ones they have. People can do what they want. There is NO EXCUSE ANYMORE. People need to Stop blaming everybody else for their own problems that THEY cause. Get over it, the Jews don't bitch and moan and use what has happened and still happening to them as an excuse and a POOR ME line all the time. MOVE ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There wouldn't of even been slaves if thier OWN PEOPLE didn't sell them in the first place... People are so uninformed and under educated! You want facts, I can list them for pages. I am Italian, you know that Italian women were raped by AFRICAN MEN??????? Well, I am not bitching about that a hundred years later! The Jews are still being treated badly, worse then blacks ever were. They don't have the "POOR ME" syndrome. I will tell you why... becuase they are willing to work for what they want. They don't feel sorry for themselves and blame everybody else for their own problems. PEOPLE ARE SOOOOOOOO IGNORANT!

With all the nonsense on this board, no wonder Bush was voted in, in the first place! Stupid, being the operative word. You lot should be supporting Mr Obama, not cussing him down at every opportunity.
This man is the only hope you have, whatever your skin colour! You lot still can't seem to grasp the fact that Bush has #ed your country and he didn't give a #... and still don't! Just like Thatcher did to ours and we are still paying the price, because all our polititian's think we are still 'thinking Free markets'. We had our family silver sold off long ago and even here the idiots still haven't got the balls to nationalise everything that was stolen from us. They have the banks, but then they never had a choice with them! Mr Obama can teach Brown a thing or two ( he still thinks everyone go's to sunday school)and as for Blair, well we are still awaiting an apology. Notice he's gone a bit shy of late?
Let's face it most of our great leaders come from comfortable middleclass backgrounds. With respect, Mr Obama has at least seen with his own eyes how the other half live and is not scared to adddress it for fear of upsetting the ruling classes and the moneyed amongst us. Good luck everyone. I can come over to visit now, without having to sleep with one eye open! My 3rd eye has just winked!

Well, as smart as you think Ron Paul is he wasn't smart enough to act like a sane person.

Obama knew what it would take to get in, that's smart.

It's appalling to read through this thread and see all of the hostility, paranoia and outright pathology of some people in this forum.

What an angry and dark world some of you live in. How do you get out of bed in the morning thinking your life is governed by evil conspirators?

So we're all idiots because we don't believe in your insane conspiracy theories? How can you function as a decent person believing all of that stuff? What I mean is what keeps you from going off the rails? Seems like it's just a very sad and angry existence.

While I read all of these posts and am usually republican (read: no trolls, the parties are so similar on certain aspects as to be undistinguishable at times) I am willing to give him a chance. I did not vote at all. To all you who call me unamerican: If I did vote it wouldn't be for ANY of these assholes that are front runners. Obama already voted to close gitmo. So I ask you, where do we put our terrororists now? GOD FORBID we treat them as the scum they are because obviously they deserve rights under ombama. Yeah and I am the unamerican one. We all need to take a VERY GOOD look at what has been done already, and if you watched or attended the inauguration then you should know if you have a brain that his having to take the oath a SECOND time???? WTF. someone got ahead of themselves and thought he knew what was right and didn't need anyone else...anyway if anyone who reads this can think for themselves you might want to be a little more subjective in this case. There's been good and bad so far and if he can carry thru on what he says and, let's face it, not many before him have then all for him. Until I see these things come to fruition and quit hearing them talk about it...I may vote again and be happy to be an american. Until then....wish I had a ticket to Asia

Victoria has it right about the blame game.My ex and I made very little money. Our two kids wore hand me down clothes from garage sells and other relatives,we had hand me down tv's and furniture and didn't even get cell phones till recently but was able to rent a small house.I did lawn mowing and light repairs in our local housing projects for a summer and watched these kids that were so poor because of the white man walking around in shoes that would nearly pay a months rent on our house, not to mention their brand name clothes, newest cell phones, cars we could never afford, the newest nicest televisions. They had no problem bragging about selling their food stamps for luxury and telling you that a job other than supervising whites was considered slavery and they shouldn't have to work anyway,of course because of slavery. They should be taken care of.They also have no problem admitting that the more kids you have means more money from the government. So when i see a guy with gold grills on his teeth crying because he's poor, sorry,i have no pity.I think a few less luxuries and you could afford to get out of there. But then like i said, work or anything not given free is considered slavery.
