I wouldn't get too worried. Many English Commonwealth countries (England, Canada, Australia, New Zealand etc etc) have open end governments meaning
that a single political party is voted for usually for a 3-4 year stint. If they do a good job the people vote again and may keep them in. This can
go on forever if the people continue to vote that party in.
Admittedly it is not perfect. For example, a party can be re-voted in based on the leader, but then the leader stands down and their deputy takes
control. Not so good if your deputy was Dick Cheney lol.
But then again, I think we have learnt that voting in the US is not always fair, so it may leave the system open to abuse.
