That's a big stretch from "US troops securing the Gaza border!!!" that you claimed. Those are Engineer offices working on that tunnel problem; it's not like the 1st Cav is patrolling the border.

That may be true, but remember how the Viet Nam war started. We started sending "advisers" to Viet Nam. Then we sent engineers, and before you know it, we had hundreds of thousands of troops there, with more than 50,000 dead American troops, and over 1 million Vietnamese casualties. It's a very slippery slope.

Oh... No, its not 101 Airborne, or Marines either... Not even Delta Force!

But US military, by its official members using US uniforms, who are serving in Gaza border, are giving and taking orders, and by their acts US is also directly influencing to outcome of this operation and situation.

Your first link is labeled as an editorial opinion piece, not as news. The last two are not labeled as op-eds, but certainly read as such.

As for the definition of war crimes, how about firing rockets into civilian areas without provocation? Is there a mention of that?

I repeat, war is hell and this is not ours. If you are looking for US sympathy for the Gaza residents, try sending some our way next time we have a disaster. I'm a bit tired of being disrespected simply for being an American, except when someone needs us.

Apache helicopter pilot Captain Orr, who has flown dozens of combat missions over Gaza the past few weeks, on Tuesday said he felt sorry for civilian casualties and had aborted missions to avoid them.

He and his fellow pilots are responsible for the vast majority of damage and casualties in Gaza, since Israel launched its Cast Lead offensive on December 27 to stop the near-daily rocket fire against southern Israeli towns and cities. But they are also the most effective weapon in Israel's arsenal against Hamas militants in Gaza.

Captain Orr (25), felt that aborting some of his targets for fear of harming civilians were among his proudest achievements. "The ones I remember are when I have locked in on a target and I fire and then at the last second I see a child in my cross hairs and I divert the missile," he said. "That leaves a mark."

Only at the end of a long day, did he allow himself to think about it. "We're aware that in this war, besides a lot of enemies that are being harmed, there are also a few uninvolved civilians in Gaza that are being harmed," he said.

"We're very sorry for it, not only me as the soldier in the aircraft, but also all the people in the country."

He said he has seen Hamas use civilians as its human shields, and he has held his fire in such cases. But he added that all those who accused Israel of targeting civilians were mistaken and misled by what they saw on TV. He personally has called off many airstrikes, even at the risk of letting a rocket-launcher get away, for fear of harming an innocent woman or a child. He said by doing so, he was following both his military orders and his own conscience.

Concerns about Israel’s use of non-conventional and experimental weapons in the Gaza Strip are growing, with evasive comments from spokesmen and reluctance to allow independent journalists inside the tiny enclave only fuelling speculation. The most prominent controversy is over the use of shells containing white phosphorus, which causes horrific burns when it comes into contact with skin. Under international law, phosphorus is allowed as a smokescreen to protect soldiers but treated as a chemical weapon when used against civilians. The Israeli army maintains that it is using only weapons authorised in international law, though human rights groups have severely criticised Israel for firing phosphorus shells over densely populated areas of Gaza. But there might be other unconventional weapons Israel is using out of sight of the watching world. One such munition may be Dime, or dense inert metal explosive, a weapon recently developed by the US army to create a powerful and lethal blast over a small area. The munition is supposed to still be in the development stage and is not yet regulated. There are fears, however, that Israel may have received a green light from the US military to treat Gaza as a testing ground. “We have seen Gaza used as a laboratory for testing what I call weapons from hell,” said David Halpin, a retired British surgeon and trauma specialist who has visited Gaza on several occasions to investigate unusual injuries suffered by Gazans. “I fear the thinking in Israel is that it is in its interests to create as much mutilation as possible to terrorise the civilian population in the hope they will turn against Hamas.” Gaza’s doctors, including one of the few foreigners there, Mads Gilbert, a Norwegian specialist in emergency medicine working at Al Shifa hospital in Gaza City, report that many of the injuries they see are consistent with the use of Dime. Wounds from the weapon are said to be distinctive. Those exposed to the blast have severed or melted limbs, or internal ruptures, especially to soft tissue such as the abdomen, that often lead to death. There is said to be no shrapnel apart from a fine “dusting” of minute metal particles on damaged organs visible when autopsies are carried out.
