SPRINGFIELD, Ill. - In an ironic, surreal scene, impeached Gov. Rod Blagojevich will preside briefly over the chamber that holds his political future in its hands.

On Wednesday, Blagojevich was to swear in the Illinois Senate, which will decide in a matter of weeks whether to throw the two-term Democrat out of office. The opening of a new legislative session is normally an upbeat occasion, but how the senators and the governor will respond this time is anyone's guess.

Well this is certainly going to be a three ring circus. How does something like this happen? I believe Blagojevich, deluded by his own power is truly
a sociopath and has no moral conscience whatsoever. To think that no one has the ability to change this, is mind blowing. This is proof that criminals have more liberties and power than the majority who do not commit crimes.

Lawmakers are in a very, very difficult position," he said, "but I trust that whatever is done is done fair and because whatever they do here is going to have a tremendous impact on any future governor or any future General Assembly."

I had to do a double take on this line, "I trust that whatever is done, is done fair"

Who are they trying to kid? I only have one comment to add. Fair, yeah right! Fair politics in Chicago! lol

I ask this, what is really going on? Why not just quietly resign?

All thoughts welcome.
