I think you're implying that every husband will want to demand tying up the wife in his personal sex dungeon downstairs in the basement. I don't think that's realistic. Ever heard of the saying "Different strokes for different folks"?

For every fetish portrayed in pornography there are people who actually enjoy that behaviour which means that there are willing participants to participate in the portrayal either for reasons of money or sexual gratification.

It seems a little naive to criticize the porn industry for being degrading when there are a significant number of people who enjoy degradation and who is to say that a minimum wage job isn't degrading? I bet there aren't too many people who 'get off' on stacking supermarket shelves for ten bucks an hour.

Basically what I am saying is that porn exists because there is a demand for it.

If you don't like it, and I admit that some of it disgusts me, then don't look at it! It doesn't have to be a part of your life if you choose otherwise but know thast your individual choice doesn't put you in a very strong position to understand, criticize or attempt to impede the choices of others.

This is just more religious bull# trying to get you to feel guilty for watching porn. Not one group that's against it is non religious. Get it threw your head, your not going to change people just because you believe its wrong. Its not wrong, if you do not like it shut up about it. You know i should start a thread about how since the evolution of the internet and porn through the last 15 years saw a drop in rape. This means porn is good. Yes child porn is horrible and you go to jail if you watch it, no need to further destroy our youth. You seem to base most of your arguments on conditions and enjoyment of professionals in said industry.

Yes its messy , and people are unhappy and exploited in the industry .. strangely tho this is the case in Most industries , someone always gets the short end of the stick somewhere.

Quite right. I'm sure there is always someone somewhere getting the short end of the stick or exploited. Whether you're an underpaid and overworked McDonald's employee or a non-unionized minimum wage farm worker that is exposed to toxic pesticides on a daily basis or whether someone is in porn. A legitimate porn model probably has a better quality of life (financially at least) than the former examples.
I think it's also important to distinguish between 'love' and 'sex'. Sex is a biological function whereas love is wholly emotional. The two can compliment each other but usually only for so long. Most people who've been married for 20 odd years say that either one or the other or both are waning. The teenage puppy love years will pass. That's just the way it is.
Now I'm not suggesting that everybody drop out of college to become porn actors and hopefully get awarded a Porn Oscar. I'm not even saying it should be a 'profession'. But if it's done by some it's none of my business but theirs.

Explanation: It seems to me that you are clearly confusing Porn (made legally and by consenting adults and also bought and watched legally by consenting adults and taxed legally by governments) and Rape which has no Consent (i.e. Consent = the ability, right and legal requirement to make a legally permissible agreement to have sexual relations between 2 or more people before sexual relations commence). If any of my female or male relatives of friends was raped by some sicko, regardless of whether he/she/they were driven by porn based fantasies then I would want them punished to the full extent of the law possible, but I'm not going to blame the porn...I'm going to blame him/her/them for not getting their victims consent 1st!!!

Personal Disclosure: If the OP wanted to go on about rape then I wonder why they didn't make this clear in the Topic? But since it clearly states its about porn and where I live porn is a vital legal industry and is highly regulated and as such I currently see and have no problems with it at all which seems in concurrence with 66.6+% of posters to this thread.

We were talking about the porn industry, not rape.

If CONSENTING adults choose to participate in degrading acts then what is the problem?

Where to you make the astonding logical leap that porn is responsible for rape?

I think rape and general human brutality predate pornography by a considerable length of time and therefore it can hardly be said that porn, a comparitively recent pastime in the evolution of mankind, is responsible for acts of human sexual; criminality!

Your argument comes off as being a knee-jerk emotional response which really puts the horse before the cart.
