thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com
The Secretary of the Senate has determined that the new credentials presented today on behalf of Mr. Burris now satisfy Senate Rules and
validate his appointment to the vacant Illinois Senate seat. In addition, as we requested, Mr. Burris has provided sworn testimony before the Illinois
House Committee on Impeachment regarding the circumstances of his appointment. (visit the link for the full news article)

Well, it was never really legal to block him in the first place. The real story should be what to do about a State Secretary who's political
loyalties outweigh the rule of law....
In theory the Secretary of the State of Illinois should be impeached for his actions...., will that happen? No.
Sorry to be brief..., but what else is there to say?

I didn't really understand why the Senate wouldn't seat him last week when the session opened.
IMO the Democrats didn't want to be tainted by the association with Gov. Blagojevich.
The law says that Obama's vacated Senate seat should be filled by a candidate appointed by the Governor of Illinois. Blagojevich had not yet been
tried or impeached when he named Burris, so his appointment was perfectly legal. No one in all this process has even implied that Burris is guilty of
any illegal or even underhanded dealings in regard to this seat, so the objection cannot be about him.
Besides, they need another Democrat in the Senate. I'm glad they finally rallied behind him.

Glad to see this is sorted out and we can move on. We have more important things to be concerned about.
