Hm, nothing near the billions of gallons it released in Tennessee, but I wonder what kinda of financial hit these spills are going to take on TVA and their customers?

The TVA is an untouchable entity. They have had a strangle hold on the entire state of Tennessee for many years. There are oil, natural gas and coal reserves in all the surrounding states. The TVA has blocked the search for and the devlopment of the fossil fuel deposits within the state. They have a monoply on generated energy, and will force injunction upon any competition.
If anyone expects a huge blowup about these enviromental spills by the TVA,think again. These incidents just as all the others over the years, will be swept under the rug. They are a government agency or a private industry dependent on their needs at the time. There are antiquated laws that they can and do hide behind.

Piss poor engineering and maintenance. The coal companies have outdated standards. As long as something is not broken completely. It will not be fixed. It is taking accidents like this and the explosions in the mines for them to update their standards.

This has nothing to do with the coal companies. This is the power production companies. Good try though.
