Residual Ghosts -- Are they always dead?

I watched a fascinating youtube video about a guy who saw the residual ghosts of Roman soldiers and their horse.

Then the thought crossed my mind, are all residual ghosts dead? If intense events/emotions somehow get replayed and if it is some sort of time/space glitch, why does it always seem the individuals are dead?

Why couldn’t residual ghosts be created at the time of the initial experience? Has anyone ever heard of such a thing? Where scenes are replayed yet the individuals are still alive?

If this has been discussed before sorry for reposting, but I have never seen anything on this topic.
