Sorry to say, but Plastic Bertrand was in fact from Belgium. The song was ripped off from "Jet Boy Jet Girl" by Elton Motello. So the lyrics (which even speakers of French disagree upon the exact meanings, 'cos it's all French slang), were the only French thing about it.

Even "Jet Boy Jet Girl" only did reasonably well in Belgium, not France.

But, Plastic Bertrand did take the world by storm..
