Kyiv's economic court has decided to ban the national joint-stock company Naftogaz Ukrainy from transiting Russian gas in 2009 at a price of $1.60 per 1,600 cubic meters per 100 kilometers, the Ukrainian Fuel and Energy Ministry has said.


The court decided to satisfy a ministry appeal declaring ineffective agreements on Russian gas transit via Ukraine that were to run until late 2010, the ministry said in a press release on Monday.

Oh Dear...

I don't know who thought this was a good idea but it looks to ensure a lot of European country's are going to get a great deal colder... effectively making russian gas transit through the country illegal puts everyone affected in a seriously difficult position.

It appears that someone in the Ukraine is intent on making life as awkward as possible for everyone and seem determined to ensure the UN loose its patience with the Dispute..
