And Yet it seems to begin Again

I have a Friend who works for a Senator in D.C. and she has informed me a of a new bill set to Hit in Houses in Feburary 2009.

This bill will not allow the teaching of Astronomy in High School Science. This is Why:

1. Through science in particulary Astronomy Scientist have been able to prove that the Earth may only be around 6000 years old. This (apperently) goes against the bible

2. My Personal nal Favorite Astronomy may lead to the study of Astrology

3. It may help (somehow) prove the theory of evolution

4. Do you actually know how many Christian Sects out there take the bible so serioulsy that they still believe the sun revolves around the Earth???

This bill is obvioulsy created on a christian front, without doubt. She however told me that there is a good chance that the bill may drop before it even hits. lets hope so!!!

So Any opinions?

Astronomy proves that the world is much older than 6000 years, as does geology.
Those fundamentalist who believe te world is only 6000 years old follow the teachcings of bishop Usher of England, who, using the the geneolgies put forth in the bible calculated the age of the earth to be only 6000 years old. He apparently took the bible literally, ad didn't allow for generations that might be left out for various reasons.
