It could be a good thing for those people. Imagine family time becoming a families escape again. They might actually dust off the old board games that the tv made them forget about because they were busy watching survivor or american idol. But, who wants to spend time with people anymore, it's much more fun being a zombie

It has been since 2005 that they have been pushing this.

The 2005 Defecit Reduction and Balanced Budget Act, Title III Transition to Digital and Public Safety Act.
H.R. 4569

Now while many might wonder what is so important about having High Definition Digital Cable the first thing I wondered was how the heck does it reduce the deficit and balance the budget?

Congress has declared publicly that September 11th illustrated a need for a broader communications band and more effective communications capabilities for emergency responders.

That after a period of evaluation some decades on the VHF dials will be determined in the future as being available to auction off to broadcasters under the new system.

All sounds kind of nice until you discover that it isn't just emergency responders that need the airwaves but emergency creators.

Well hey thiis video certainly explains how to reduce the defecit!

All you need is a giant machine in Alaska and to not have any communication bands interfering with it.

HDTV also allows for a broader application of the patented silent sound subliminal presentation system.

Silent Sound Presentation System

It truly saddens me when shortsightedness on behalf of the powers that be leaves the slaves without enough monopoly money to think of installing their collars and shackles properly.

I guess less perfect forms of brainswashing are better left in place than the much better perfected ones if none of the people are likely to miss out on the former and too many of the people are going to miss out on the later.

It's a kinder gentler NWO that can now be so flexible. Thanks Herr Obama!

I don't think it's a big deal, is it? He wants to postpone it. What's the big deal?

I mean honestly, how long have we known about this switch?

I'm embarrassed to admit that I heard about this LAST WEEK. I had no clue. My husband knew, but I didn't.

But it sounds like it's OK with you that other people have to give up their TV. Are you willing to give up yours? Or whatever you do in the evening for entertainment? You don't sound very sympathetic to me. Sorry.

Actually, the converter boxes are technically free since the government offers vouchers

They are out of vouchers. Link above.

So, they are not really forcing anyone to pay for them, just the stupid people who don't pay attention when the commercials come on and tell them exactly what I just said.

Well, that includes me, then... I guess I'm just too "stupid" to stare at the lame commercials. I mute those suckers every time. I'm a real idiot.

What people? And if it's good for them, then it's good for you, right? Join the movement and toss your TV (unless you can't bear tearing yourself away from those lame commercials you love).

But, who wants to spend time with people anymore, it's much more fun being a zombie

Sounds like you know of what you speak.

It's pretty amazing how some people are willing to give up other people's TVs and chosen entertainment, but don't ask them to give up what THEY do for entertainment...

I did not realize they were out of vouchers, interesting...Thank you for that information.

In all honesty, I don't watch much TV...95% of the time, if my tv is on, I'm playing video games with my friends and family...wii sports = fun family activity.

Silly BH, I'm not a zombie...I hunt zombies. YAY Resident Evil!

Can we really be that stupid or that conditioned that we can't see the handwriting on the wall? Come on these guys just are not that bright. Why have we allowed ourselves to be turned into electronic junkies that fear loss of electricity to loss of food and water? My work schedule and my location makes the internet my means for communication and socialization so I am not painting myself outside the loop but I removed myself from the box years ago. It has always been a tool used for controlling the way we think and behave but with the forced switch to digital will push that box into warp mode. God help us if we don’t wake up and help us if we do.

obama's not the president

i dont now much about this but i am curious if this leaves open an entire media to be picked up.. could people find a way to take over the use of air broadcast television since the networks re abandoning them? its not like it will be against the law to have an antennae right?

Liquid, you misunderstood, and Marg, I agree with you both.

Okay, let me explain better. Folks, I am against this d*mn box, because why should we give up analog tv? I have no satellite or cable, have a Zenith TV from the 80's, works perfectly with "Rabbit Ears." LOL!!!

Here is what I am saying. I dislike Obama, but, I agree with us not going to this digital crap, why? Well, why should we pay when we've had it free for decades? It is because it is a control issue with "Big Brother." More control! I refuse to submit, so will never have cable or satellite, or "the box," so they can "kiss it!" I will never get satellite radio, more control, they can kiss it!

Wake up folks, before it's too late! :-(

You wont be paying any monthly charge for the use of this converter box. Be thankful you are not in the UK, where the public has to pay for a receiver license every year just to watch tv or listen to the radio!!!

The cost of the box is not that expensive. Around 130 bucks without the coupons. Some pay more than that for a night out on the town or 5 hours at the local pub, even during these bad economic times.

Its a matter of putting this all into prospective. If you want your analog tv to continue to work with over the air signals, you need a converter box to receive the digital signals. Even if you dont get a box, you can still use that old analog tv for other things, like using a RF converter to watch DVD's or using the RF output of an old VHS machine to play back video tapes. Or maybe monitor Ch 3 and Ch4 for that alien broadcast thats supposed to happen sometime later this year!!

There is no forcing of anything onto anyone. If you want it, you can get it. If not, simply do without. It wont matter to the government, the FCC, the broadcasters or anyone else. The only one that will loose out is those who dont get the box or subscribe to cable or satellite tv.

Even that good ol workhorse Zenith tv will give out sooner or later. Good luck finding replacement parts.

Cheers!!!!
