Was wondering exactly what Rumsfeld
might have been doing back then, ...
Donald Rumsfeld
Rumsfeld was elected to the United States House of Representatives for Illinois' 13th congressional district in 1962, at the age of 30, and was
re-elected by large majorities in 1964, 1966, and 1968.[12]
In the Congress, he served on the Joint Economic Committee, the Committee on Science and Aeronautics, and the Government
Operations Committee, as well as the Subcommittees on Military and Foreign Operations. He was also a co-founder of the
Japanese-American Inter-Parliamentary Council.[13]
The Government Operations Committee is a powerful committee to be on.
Government Operations Committee
The Committee's government-wide oversight jurisdiction and expanded legislative authority make it one of the most influential and powerful
committees in the House. The Committee serves as Congress' chief investigative and oversight committee, and is granted broad jurisdiction. The
chairman of the committee is the only committee chairman in the House with the authority to issue subpoenas without a committee vote.[3]
Rumsfeld is a "alumni" of this committee.
Committee alumni include: Bob Dole, Dennis Hastert, Dick Armey, Donald Rumsfeld, Dan Quayle, Jim Wright and John McCormack, to name a few. Currently,
the Committee is chaired by Congressman Henry Waxman (D-CA).
Being he was on the Committee on Science and Aeronautics back then, I would think he
would have had an interest in UFO's back then.
His position on the Subcommittees on Military and Foreign Operations would probably have meant that, if the military ever did have contact with or
found anything "alien", he most likely would have heard about it.
And his position in the Government Operations Committee would have enabled him to poke around in places where most other people couldn't.
So, I would think he very well
could have been somebody "in the know" back then. (if there
IS anything to know)
