Sarkozy, Merkel, Blair call for new capitalism

French President Nicolas Sarkozy, leading a two-day conference with former British Prime Minister Tony Blair on the future of capitalism, said the crisis has shown that no country can go it alone on economic policy.

"In the 21st century, there it is no longer a single nation who can say what we should do or what we should think," he said.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the system "cannot continue as it is" and called for better-regulated financial markets.

They are coming out together now, and calling for a "New World Order of financial economic body out of the U.N.

There is no more pretending this is what the whole Global meltdown is about.

Merkel said the International Monetary Fund has not managed to regulate global capitalism, and she called for the creation of an economy body at the United Nations, similar to the Security Council, to judge government policy.

Speaking at the conference, European Competition Commissioner Neelie Kroes said "global rules" on government aid to companies would be "helpful."

"A closer network of competition systems is slowly emerging after decades of work," she said.

It is also admitted in the above statement - that the whole scenerio has been worked on for decades and is now coming to completion.

They will be meeting again in London on April 2nd, to I would assume to put it all together and finalize the "New World Order" of a financial U.N. body.

Everything will be going through the U.N. it seems.

I have been saying for years that if you can land a pair of Nikes on these shores for $9, and sell them for over $100, somethin's gotta give, and sports fans...looks like it did.

We have a manufacturing sector of well paid labourers, and each auto job spins off 7 additional ones, and that money flows into the community. And who is the competition? Asian workers who often don't get paid?

Work is flowing from Mexico...former Canada/US Auto Pact work...because the $2/hour wages there are no longer competitive.

That has to be remedied, and it has to be done on a world-wide scale. I wouldn't be looking for developing conspiracies...I'd focus instead on where the hell the money went!!

sadly, all of the people here who have been saying this will happen for years will not recieve apologies from those who condemned them

but, it is nice to know the ATS underground is RIGHT ON THE $$$$ about WORLD Politics!

Hang on.

Shouldn't Blair be implementing a ceasefire in the Middle East instead of attending an economic summit? He isn't the President of Europe (yet).

Obama will be taking an agenda and a new international regulatory system to the G-20 financial conference in London this April.

There is obviously some need for an international system of regulation , thou I certainly don't trust these 3 to implement it without some ulterior agenda that will be to our detriment .

Funny seeing the words " Blair" , "Implementing" , and "Ceasefire" in the same sentence . Bit of a toll on one's sense of irony is that .

Looks like the veils are beginning to come off of the globalists plans. They are stating things plainly and openly now, which means that the end game is afoot. Look for Obama to join in on the fun as national sovereignty and quaint traditions like the USA Constitution are discarded in favor of the new world order Poppy Bush starting telling us about so long ago now. Interesting times.

So how, then, would you address the current nightmare of trying to compete with slave labour? Are you suggesting protectionism? Or should there be an international effort...among 'have' nations, not third world...to try and fix things on a global basis?

As another poster said recently, it's time for actions, not labeling.
