Gotcha, I understand. My only 2 Respected Foes are from the Debate forum, like I said. My point is that people are taking the wrong stance when it comes to this function. It's a positive imo, not a way to say, "Meh, you're a tool."

I am very fond of paradoxes.

Can we have an "indifferent" button?

Agreed.

But maybe that is a topic for another thread, eh?
Not that it will matter much. If I were to post to this forum with that issue, I would see a bunch of mods come in and slap me down and, if I didn't watch my arse, the next simple infraction I made in any other forum would come with a docking of points...

Go ahead and remove this post, someone. I expect that to happen as it is off topic...

Back to the subject though I love the points system here. I love the ability to star posts, unless posts that deserve stars aren't being starred, and that happens, but I think in the end it is a pretty good balance.

It is a way for you to determine, after a bit, which posts are worthy and which aren't... If the discussion is good, anyhow.

Oh, okay. I see what you're saying. My bad. I thought you were saying that my attitude towards it came from the debate forum.

In that case, I can see what you mean. If the issue was formal debate only, then yes, you COULD HAVE a respected foe.

Respected foe is an honor imo.

Any foes I have ... I don't respect. Therefore, my 'respected foes' list is empty. If I respect them, then they aren't a foe.

YOUNGER ... I LIKE that!
Considering how old I feel and all ....

Curiously I am listed on a members friends list. The one that says I picked them. I don't remember picking them. Thing is they aren't on my friends list on my profile?

I don't mind but don't know how it happened?

Just because someone picks you as a friend or foe doesn't mean that it will show up on your profile as your pick. YOUR picks are different from THEIR picks.

If I pick you, then you will show up as my friend. You will also see me listed on your profile as someone who picked you. But I won't show up on the list of people that YOU pick and I won't have a little green banner run across my avatar saying 'one of your friends'.

There are four lists on your profile.

My friends
My foes
People who have picked me as friend
People who have picked me as foe.

Funny little story. A couple of days ago NYK537 and I were posting in one thread and were defending the same opinion. Another poster proceeded to rain down insults upon us and then hit us both with the 'foe' button. The yahoo didn't realize that it is RESPECTED foe. Considering that he had just plastered us with insults, it's obvious he didn't respect either NYK537 or myself, but he still hit the 'foe' button.

What a __________ (insert term used by Red Foreman on That 70s Show)

I see what you are saying. This member had the green banner and I showed on his/her profile as if I had picked him. If I had picked him/her wouldnt they show on my profile as well??

I know Red from the 7os show...good choice of words. lol

There has probably been no reply as there were already threads on it.

Thread 1
Thread 2

On the topic of “Ignore” I always thought that I would never ignore anyone as every side (no matter how silly) should be heard, but after 1 or 2 people driving me nuts not listening or reading anyone’s post and they just kept on with the same argument over and over and over again I just had to put them on ignore..... it’s been great, I haven’t heard from them since. Lol

I haven’t “foe’d” anyone, but I have 2 foes, 2 people who I have never even see on the board, and one of them seems to foe everyone.

The links you supplied were to the older threads (2008) are for the launching of the project in the first place.

My article was for the launching of the actual advertsements from that project (2009)!

People just don't read sometimes.
