A church decided to tell the story of Jesus. They gave it a easter theme. How did they do this? By having someone dressed as the easter bunny whipped. They also broke eggs, had a drunk guy, a women self mutilating herself. Here is a cut from it.

GLASSPORT, Pa. (April 8) - A church trying to teach about the crucifixion of Jesus performed an Easter show with actors whipping the Easter bunny and breaking eggs, upsetting several parents and young children.

James, I know you would be quite sensitive to bunny beatings
, but we can't see the article. (Curse you AOL!!!!)
Could you share more of it??

But, from what you said, Churches are going way too far.
I can see why Amuk might find it entertaining, but from a religious standpoint, it kinda stinks.
What could they be thinking?? (Can we sic PETA on them?
.....damn, we should sic PETA on them!!!)

Oh, wait, here it is:

"GLASSPORT, Pa. (AP) -- First, the Passion of the Christ. Now, the torment of the Easter Bunny?

It may not have been as gruesome as Mel Gibson's movie, but many parents and children got upset when a church trying to teach about Jesus' crucifixion performed an Easter show with actors whipping the Easter bunny and breaking eggs.

People who attended Saturday's show at Glassport's memorial stadium quoted performers as saying, "There is no Easter bunny," and described the show as being a demonstration of how Jesus was crucified.

Melissa Salzmann, who brought her 4-year-old son J.T., said the program was inappropriate for young children. "He was crying and asking me why the bunny was being whipped," Salzmann said.

Patty Bickerton, the youth minister at Glassport Assembly of God, said the performance wasn't meant to be offensive. Bickerton portrayed the Easter rabbit and said she tried to act with a tone of irreverence."

That just begs the question what were they thinking. From what I've read, the parents had no idea what was about to happen. Then they started wipping the easter bunny.

Performers broke eggs meant for an Easter egg hunt and also portrayed a drunken man and a self-mutilating woman...

There were 4 year olds in the audience! You have to wonder if there is a gas leak or something in that church, because I can't figure out how right-minded people could think springing that on their perishoners would be a good idea.

Oh, and DontTreadOnMe, church are going way too far, not churches.

Those are some sick sick people. Whipping a easter bunny? sounds like a real porno gone wrong. As for the self mutilating woman, what does that have to do with the crucifixon? As for the drunks, well yeah, I guess we all wish we could drink in church once in a while, I mean, besides those thimbles of wine they give you for communion.

Sorry, but since someone posted the rest, thanks. But yes, what does a drunk and a woman mutilating herself have to do with the Jesus or Easter? And I didn't know they tortured bunnies when they killed Jesus. Must have missed that part in the bible.

"And God said to the people. 'Whip the bunnies, for they are sinners! Whip the bunnies and break there eggs!' And they did, and everyone rejoiced!"

Wait, bunnies don't have eggs. Of course, world isn't flat either, so who knows.

But yes, there are kids in the audience so they whip the easter bunny.
Gonna go to my corner and cry now.

That was never in the Bible, it was Catholic Church doctrine

errrm....trust aol right?

any piece of news can be converted into an accusation....
keep in mind, that this show might not have been as crazy, just hype to stop any further extremities from being acted out in churches...etc...religiously fanatical part-takings/performances will have to be re-thought since they're starting to border on "wrong" and therefore the media's trying to hype one little show up so nothing REALLY extreme occurs?

Yes, the church doctrine. But isn't it the church that decided which books stayed in the bible and which ones were removed? And they were the ones who kinda enforced the doctrines. So who knows, maybe there is an ancient doctrine about bunny whippings.

There are actually several sources who have reported this, and all of them seem to paint it in the same picture. If everyone had a pretty good idea of what was going to go down, parents could hvae opted out, and I wouldn't have a problem with that. It was the suprise factor that bothered me. It would kind of be like me going into an elementry school, and (for whatever reason) the children have great respect for me, and I tell them Santa doesn't exist. Parents never got a say in it, and now I just made them into liars in their kids eyes..

Thanks for the extra links people. Anyways, I still find this horrible. What if I decided to teach kids the birth of Jesus by boiling santa in oil and frying up the reinderr and breaking the necks of elves while a woman went around mutilating herself?

Sorry, but this is insane.

The State Department selected Bugs Bunny because "the rabbit is considered a kind and intelligent creature in Cambodian culture."

Man, even Cambodia would be upset about the poor children!

Let's face it, no matter how you look at it, it's pretty funny.

Self mutilating woman, drunk guy, whipping the easter bunny all put on by the church and just imagine the look on the kids faces, I'm sorry that's funny.

Can the kids charge the future therapy to the church?

It does make about as much sense as hitting a Japanese guy on Pearl Harbor day.

I like the conspiracy thought control angle, blow it out of proportion get peoples attention.

See it prove the Jews run the media. It's Passover you know, you don't hear any stories about people putting on plays where Moses gets kicked in the nards do you?

You know why?!

I'LL TELL YA WHY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Jews run the media!!!!!!

I should know, I'm Jewish.

I must now retire to the Bohemian grove and put on my Owl suit.
