Big Brother to control thermostats in homes?

www.worldnetdaily.com
Add thermostats to the list of private property the government would like to regulate as the state of California looks to require that residents install remotely monitored temperature controls in their homes next year.

"The implications of this language are far-reaching and Orwellian"...

This is year old news.

www.abovetopsecret.com...

They have been talking about this for some time. Though I guess this could be an update on the project. All I can say is might as well hand over your life California they want to control you.

Concerned California residents expressed outrage with the proposal in several online postings:

"I hate this state. Why don't we just fly a communist flag while we are at it? We are planning a move out of state. I'm done."

"This is insane. Please, everyone reading this, take action. Write your representatives, call the RINO governor, call your local radio programs and, lastly, write letters to the editors of your local papers. Dear God, just when I thought California couldn't get much worse!"

So, you don't fight, you move.

What happens when there's no more places to move too?

The article I refer to is from today, and, speaking of this law being implemented next year.

That sounds like breaking news to me.

But your post brings up exactly my point.

The public takes a look and says “Oh well, they’ve been talking about doing this for a long time... Oh well...”

It’s exactly your type of attitude that the government is depending on.

Yeah - it's California. Let me reiterate that. IT'S CALIFORNIA. As in the most F***ED up state in the nation, right now, at least as far as local government is concerned.

Californians may let their legislature get away with passing screwed up laws like this, but there are other states that won't stand for it, namely the Republican states that call for smaller, less intrusive government, like Texas.

I was more referring to the fact that the thread I linked was from Jan 08 and it said next year then.

But while your article is from today it is still old news. It happens a lot here at ATS for instance I have been seeing the goats with spider DNA since 2005 when it was first reported, just last week it was reported on here again. New sources often dig up old news and pass it off as new, unless they are giving an update.

In this case I am not seeing a real update just the same old reporting for the most part.

Actually your link is from

Again old news.

I was going to take this story with a grain of salt because it was from WND, BUT, then I found THIS, from the NY Times, ...

California Seeks Thermostat Control - NY Times

SAN FRANCISCO — The conceit in the 1960s show “The Outer Limits” was that outside forces had taken control of your television set.

Next year in California, state regulators are likely to have the emergency power to control individual thermostats, sending temperatures up or down through a radio-controlled device that will be required in new or substantially modified houses and buildings to manage electricity shortages.

The proposed rules are contained in a document circulated by the California Energy Commission, which for more than three decades has set state energy efficiency standards for home appliances, like water heaters, air conditioners and refrigerators. The changes would allow utilities to adjust customers’ preset temperatures when the price of electricity is soaring. Customers could override the utilities’ suggested temperatures. But in emergencies, the utilities could override customers’ wishes.

So, there it is!

This is just getting ridiculous what the government is wanting to control in our daily lives anymore!

Thank you very much for posting the more ATS acceptable link!

I too hesitate to use WND but once in a great great while something does ring true, plus it was that or the Jones Report.

It's 23.30 for me but I'll go read that now, thanks again.

Ahhh, I see the fine print now - (Jan 11th) - thanks!

Doesn't change the fact no one’s done a thing about it - but - I agree - this is *Old News*

So we'll just pack it away and move on upwards and onwards to more important issues of Brittany or Paris and forget the Government is going to take over peoples homes this year.

Keep up the good work in your vigilance stamping out fellow ATS'ers mistake threads. It can only go to make ATS a better place.

Thanks

EDIT: I asked a MOD to close the thread, thank you.

And ironically, one of the most intrusive and screwed up Presidents that passed some of the most screwed up laws by following a screwed up "I talk to God" ideology was from Texas. And I don't think I even need to speak it's name.
