do you work at a court room or are you a judge???

Honestly I feel intimidated. I really don't feel any safer if a cop is near me than if there is no cop.

I usually feel bad for them.


That must be the lousiest way to make a living I can think of.


Get paid $30,000 a year to be spat at, ridiculed, demonized, deal with the scum of the Earth all day every day, hated by most, degraded by many, distrusted by all.

They get to see dead children and battered women, they get to wrestle around in the dirt with HIV positive crack heads, they get to be shouted down and disrespected by every loudmouth jerk who gets irrate when he is caught speeding.

And if that aint enough they get to risk being shot and killed by some street trash every time they go to work.

I would rather be a garbage man, at least people like the garbage man.

Most of this bad police officers is unwarented. The MSM only reports the bad things(you all should know this). They never report the good stuff police do such as put they're lives on the line. I for one have had a bad experience with officers brought about by me own actions.

I believe if the general public knew the facts, police wouldnt be the brunt od soo much crap. Granted there are bad cops, but there are bad doctors, Firefighters, ect.

I am proud of the police force and I hope more people will take this attitude on!!

Honestly I would have to input scared. After seeing so many videos of people getting arrested for no apparent reason, and just having that float thru your mind, just irritates me. Even if being arrest and winning in court, but when u have cuffs around your wrists you just feel hopeless.

I would like to see the general public view on this question, and to see if we are running is the right or wrong direction

I personally feel like they want money and they will try anything to get it from you. Crime does pay but not for citizens unless your big time and can scare them off your back.

More and more I see a bunch of debt collector like characters with attitude problems.

If you drop litter your fined.

Dont pay tax your fined.

Dont pay for parking your fined.

Commit a crime your fined.

Speeding your fined.

Dont pay your fine and you are fined or community service where you are forced to do unpiad work lol.
I have not been fined myself yet but I get increasingly irritated with being followed (harassment) for having a cigarette in my hand when looking for a bin outdoors.

You get the picture.

I do however sympathise with the police slightly as they do not make the policies but at the end of the day they do the job and you get what you give.

they don't scare me but i don't like cops, not because they are cops but because i don't like the type of person that wants to be a cop. like someone else pointed out, it's an awful job and the only possible perk i can see is the power trip. so i assume that if you are a cop, you like the power trip.

I feel safe.

Most of the police that I've met in my life have been pretty decent individuals.

If you don't feel safe around the police, I'd like you to come up with an alternative system that you would feel safe with. Who would you call if someone were breaking into your house? Who would you call if you see a drive by? Who would you want to come to the scene of an accident ?

What is the alternative?

I can't believe all the posts. Hey, they're just regular people doing a very crappy job.

They deal with some of the dregs of society, and what they see and are exposed to is often enough to make you puke.

It's really odd, but if you simply obey the law, then there would be no reason for fear.

You want to give an officer attitude? Bad idea. They deal with wannabe badasses all the time. Prisons are full of badasses.

The Highway Patrol are a different breed. They see the sadest, most God-awful tragedies each and every week. They see the children, the elderly, the mother, torn and crushed because of some a__hole who wanted to drink and drive. Or smoke and drive, or to wring out his new car.

I don't see how a cop can have any sense of humor with the crap they deal with, but, they do still manage.

After all, some of us can continue to do the most stupid things possible, and even veteran cops are compelled to repeat, "And I thought I had seen everything."

Try this. Next time you are close enough to an officer, smile a bit and ask him, "Well, how's business?"

They'll usually smile back and tell you "too good."

I would have to say neither "SAFE" nor "SCARED". Cops are people too... Albeit mildly retarded people.
Perhaps I would respect them more if they didn't have a sort of gang mentality about them.
My wife was pulled over for a blown tail light two weeks ago, and I happened to pass by and see her car with THREE cops behind her. I stopped and started walking towards the throng of mouth breathing savants when I noticed them placing their hands on their holsters. I put my hands up in a non-threatening gesture, and explained who I was and why I was stopping. I even showed my military ID.
I thought this would put them more at ease, instead they searched my car while I laughed at them. I asked one of these morons how the heck my wife was supposed to know the tail light was out, do a walkaround of the car every time she started it? The guy said "Yes"! I asked him if he makes his wife do that, and he just looked at me like I was some sort of quiz master. They even threatened me with a disorderly conduct charge if I didn't stop making fun of them.
Harrisburg's "finest" are a bunch of idiots. My wife is changing jobs so she no longer has to drive through the city, and we'll never spend another cent in that county.
Good riddance! No wonder the kids today all hate cops.

EDIT: I do need to add that PA State Troopers (in my experience) are much more reasonable and tolerant. Perhaps because many of them are former military, and recieve much better training. My beef is primarily with the locals, the guys we all call the "Town clowns".
