Knowing Larry Flynt, this proposal shouldn't surprise me. Yet every time Flynt pulls these sort of punches/games, i can't help but be surprised, amused and then cheer him on. He has a very unique position, to be able to orchestrate such maneuvers. For a guy that most people probably write-off as some demented low-life, he has shown me quite the opposite. What a brilliant bastard...

Say what you want about Flynt (I personally find him somewhat disgusting) but the guy constantly amuses me and I find myself agreeing or cheering him on more often than not.

This is perhaps the single most important bailout the government could make. Men with nagging or no wives forced to watch the same porn over and over again could wreak havoc around America.

There would be mass civil uprising and pillaging. There would be loss of work, famine, and desperation would rise to a new high since before the days of porn.

Breasts would become smaller due to the lack of implants being performed, causing less reasons to lust, drool, and reproduce. It could lead to a rapid decline in population.

The outlook is bleak, and something must be done.

I'm pretty sure the pron-industry is about as recession-proof as it gets. All Flynt is doing is putting distraction out there to take the public's focus off more important issues.

Well I too feel I must comment on this as well.

I actually kind of dig larry flynt, I don't think he's a saint or anything and I certainly wouldn't hold him up as a role model for children but as far as business smarts goes you could do worse.

In my opinion I would think ol' larry is doing this more as a stunt than anything else he knows congress will never bail out the pornography industry.

Francis on the other hand seem like a total delusional sleazoid to me and personally my opinion would be that he actually thinks he should get some sort of government assistance.

Now while I certainly am not thrilled about the auto-industry and their coming bailout I at least understand the fear of the fallout of ancillary industries and the domino effect it could ( I repeat could) have on the nations economy and of course I don't want to get completely dragged off on how absolutely pathetic the american car industry has allowed itself to become (no flames I drive a chrysler); but quite frankly - no matter what the economy - if you can't make money in pornography you're an idiot.

Here's an idea Joe, maybe after Girls Gone Wild 2,373 people got bored with the concept.

I say give them whatever they want. Take it from the auto industy if you must, but give it to the. Give it to em good.

The point is, is that there will be a lack of any uprising unless the bailout plan is put through.

It will be up to us to..*ahem*..take matters into our own hands

I think he is making a good point, we are bailing out everyone and there mothers. I think the point is, congress will never bail out the porn industry, and if they did, there would be such a level of anger from the far right we could go into a civil war.

Thats his point. Tell him he doesn't need a bail out, then have him turn around and make an ass out of you, for giving bailouts to other idiots who don't need it.

I think its awesome.

Thanks GoalPoster... i stand corrected, forgive me for confusing Penthouse for Hustler. Note; you could cut me a little slack, he publishes over 30 different titles. I enjoy the genre but i am no porn connoisseur. If this may keep you up at night, don't fret... i have already made the correction within minutes of your notice. For future reference, next time you want to inform someone of such a harmless mishap, it would show more class and courtesy to the OP and your fellow ATSers to just u2u the OP poster, easy fix. Your proofreading skills are truly appreciated but posting it here is just a waste of a read for everyone, except me. ...or are your motives out of resentment, because i think highly of Flynt? My motive to address this here versus u2u is that i hope this will also server an example for others.

As for those who show a bias against Flynt, you should really suspend your knee-jerk reactions to his chosen profession. If Flynt was was on ATS he would blend right in, and believe it or not most of you would learn to like him. This guy is fearless, there is no subject under the sun he won't speak his mind about. Read a few of Flynt's thoughts on most of the taboo issues we attempt to address here and you'll see what i mean... and if you aren't impressed with his progressive views and activism for free-speech then you can't deny that he is a brilliant business man.

If you assume the porn biz is a cake walk, consider the amount of competition and repetition.

I'm not a huge fan of Flynt or Porn but as a sort of social and economic commentary this is priceless . No doubt Flynt detractors will have a fit at this and will probably think that this is a genuine attempted to get a US government hand out . I do wonder that if without the likes of Christian fanatics if we have the likes Flynt but that is for another discussion .

I personally dont give two cents about Flynt, but I do like the fact that he constantly shows average Americans how inane our govt. can be....

I dont think he seriously wants/needs any bailout money, but he is reminding us that since our govt opened up the wallet thay are handing out money to every sad songster that comes along...everyone that is except the folks who actually need the help...the taxpayers!

Lol, I have no particular love, (nor hate) for the porn industry, but as someone opposed to the bailouts I have to say that I find this highly amusing. I hope he goes to congress and makes a plea like the auto execs did.

Hey, maybe instead of the driving rather than flying stunt the auto CEO's did he can have inflatable dolls instead of personal assistants? That will show he is really serious about curtailing his business expenses and will surely impress the pols.

Now on a serious note...
sexual release/fantasy is a basic fundamental human need... correct?

If you attempt to suppress, it manifests itself in many ugly and twisted ways...
ie rapist, voyeurism, exhibitionist, sado-machism etc.

Some may even venture to say it's as essential as food, water and sleep...
or let's say even the opportunity to buy an "american made" car on credit.

I think it would be pretty hypocritical not to give them a bailout. Moral issues don't enter into it... this is about business. Important businesses too America. Personally I'd feel a lot more comfortable investing in Flynn's business plan than the one put forth by the Big 3. There will always be demand for teh pr0n... if companies got money to produce cars nobody wants, then I see no reason not to give cash to a company that can actually pay it back.
