what am I doing wrong in uploading an avatar?

Topic started on 6-1-2009 @ 08:16 PM by theRiverGoddess

I have been a member here for years now.....and I have uploaded many an avatar with complete success.
This time however........its kerflooey and I dont know why.......I have uploaded my new choice of avatar in my members upload space...THEN I am using that code in my avatar URL addy.......
On my PROFILE you can see the avatar, click on it and see.......but on my posts it shows as a broken link.

What am I doing wrong?

I want to learn what I am doing WRONG so that I don't have to badger Badge01 to be my avatar assistant when I am messing it up....
(thanks Badge who is so kewl!)
I don't want to waste the time of a busy ATS moderator whenever I want a 'fresh look'

Reading ZEDS handbook it not addressing this certain issue.........

It's oversize for one thing.

It might be because it's wider than the 160 pixel limit?

When I put the avatar url in the address bar, it says;
The page you requested was not found

Which make me suspect that it was not saved, or it didn't save correctly.
Before I use a new, (when this rarely happens of course) avatar I always paste the url into the address bar to see how it looks.

ya ADVISOR me to...and it DID show up for a little while looking just as it does on my profile......then it blinked away....

I have never been photoshoppy........I have no clue HOW to do anything arty or pixel changey on the computer.......I am lucky I have figured out the dang keyboard.....hahahaha.
Odd indeed that I make my living as an artist..
..BUT I AM A SCULPTRESS......... I work with various clays NOT pixels.

I have this AV on my desktop....and I save it to my upload........hmmmm.

I bet its just LARGE as the wise ones above have stated.....

Im guess I am just going to head into BTS and try & scare me up one of those fascinating avatar artist people...........

I'll be happy to re size it for you... But if you want any thing artistic doing to it you'd be better off with someone else lol. Post the link if you like.

I think you may need some more modesty on the Avatar image,
perhaps pasties are in order...

or do i have spots before my eyes ?

Riggghhhttt.... finally! (I was being dumb)

this is the origanial scale cropped to 160 wide

And this is the whole image shrunk to 160 wide

I still surprise my self at how many times I can make exactly the same mistake!

edit.. both are within T's & C's

That's size it needs to be...

Unfortunately, that image can't be used as an avatar on ATS.
