More than 70,000 Iranian student volunteers have registered to carry out suicide bombings against Israel because of Israel's assault on the Gaza Strip.

According to the official IRNA news agency, hardline student leader Esmaeil Ahmadi says the students want to fight Israel in support of Hamas - Gaza's Islamic militant rulers.

If Iran really don't wants to see the Palestinians suffer, they better keep those 70k fanatics at home. Because Israel and Egypt will shut those borders faster than a New York minute. Anybody getting remotely close to those borders would be shot dead under the policy shoot first ask questions later. Instead of throwing out propaganda like that, why doesn't Iran offer to help the Palestinians and Israel find peace? Why keep beating the same old war drum?

The snippet posted in the OP is somewhat misleading as it suggests that the move to recruit volunteers has been endorsed by the Iranian government

From the OP link:

Five hard-line student groups and a conservative clerical group launched a registration drive last week to ask the government to allow them to stage the suicide attacks.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's government has not responded to the call yet. The government never responded to similar requests in the past. This raises the likelihood that the calls are mainly for propaganda purposes.

I'm skeptical of the claim as the article comes from an Israeli-based source and as we have seen, there are many half-truths and propaganda spins being made to cloud the real issues

Does the fact that Iraq says they have 70,000 suicide bombers ready to go seem just a little fanatical and scary? I didn’t see Iran muster up 7 much less 70,000 for the atrocities in Darfur. Hmm maybe their agenda is not to help the palatines as much as fulfilling their own priorities.

The sad part is one of their own priorities could easily be to reduce their young population to maintain a strong hold over the general population.
