With all the talk on Israel, Gaza, Jews and Muslims going on, I
thought I'd offer some statistical maps instead of words. One Fact-Map is worth a thousand words.
(Premise: The current small war is part of a bigger war - a war of values)
1. Who is the "Big Bad Bully"?
2. Who represents the free world?
3. Who defends Human Rights?
Marital Rape Illegal in:
And yet, so many say it is USA/Israel/Europe who represent the forces of evil and states like Iran (Hamas backers) who "take a stand against evil".

the US should not be included on a map showing countries that support human rights so long as humans are detained indefinitely without trial. china
isn't exactly a muslim state. why use a map of the middle east to show isreals position and world maps in every other instance?
[edit on 5/1/09 by pieman]
oh, and any chance of a few sources?
i must say i feel quite disappointed in the quality of the post.

"Woe to those who call evil good, and good evil;
Who put darkness for light, and light for darkness....
There shall be a Rude awakening, yes?
For this reason, God will send them a powerful delusion so that they will believe the lie.
Seems to be happening.

One would think that with the Arabs owning that much land that they could spare some land to share with the Palestinians. And I am not talking about
land for refugee camps. I hear so many people crying over the Palestinians being slaughtered but yet nobody dare move a finger to get them out of
harm's way. And if they do get them out of harm's way they put them in some dingy refugee camp and forget about them. At least in other refugees
camps that are not Palestinians, they at least try to resettled those refugees all around the world.

I normally like your posts but I think this is misleading.
This is a technological age, keep that it mind. It doesn't matter so much anymore how big a country is or how many people they have; one country with
nukes or biological weapons and an advanced military can bully the hell out of a larger population that isn't armed.

The Guantanamo Bay situation lessens the U.S. track record but does not change the overall general human rights situation.
The first map is to show that Israel is surrounded by enemies who far outnumber them in manpower and resources. Israel is nothing but a small slab of
desert, laboriously cultivated by the Israelis.

Detaining prisoners without trial is wrong - period. Im not going to argue that.
But in the overall scheme of things: Are you enjoying your access to Monthy Python movies? And are you enjoying your Internet Access without
restrictions?

Internet "Freedom" in the Western World is debatable.
Recently we have a thread about Australia installing content censors.
There is another one now about UK police using the internet to hack into home computers.
There was the one about Comcast limiting bandwith.
There are many instances of internet ISP's being blocked without the user's consent because the host deems something "pornographic."
There are even more with people being arrested or fined for unwittingle accessing copywrited material.
I wouldn't call it completely free, by a long shot.
BTW--China is not an internet black hole, I have family members living there. They have a heavily censored internet, but it is there.

muslims no less.
so, again, for the third time, any chance of a few sources?
how were the maps compiled and by whom. what is the statistical data referred to?

1 Turkey is in Nato and more of a western culture.
2 Saudy Arabia is incuraging terrorism, the USA is a friend of Saudy Arabia.
3 The Persians are not arabs.
4 Syrians are not arabs.
5 Bush is a Terrorists.

We live in a free world relative to many other countries. But relative to my personal ideals, not even our world is truly free.
If you think in "levels of freedom", we are more free here. I traveled to Egypt and wasnt allowed to kiss my girlfriend in public. I traveled to
Qatar and found that Yahoo is banned. Ive traveled to many Islamic Countries and its always a real relief to get back to freer countries...such
as European ones, or Israel, or the U.S.
It really is. Try it out yourself.

As a slight aside and on the subject of reporters, who is it not letting reporters into Gaza at the moment?

i found that one myself, thanks, as i said, it has nothing to do with fanatical muslims in particular.
the first map you posted shows countries in which there are a lot of muslims, a big so what.
the second one shows nothing in particular
the third shows a coloured map without a key, so again, nothing
the fourth shows nothing particular to muslim countries.
seriously, the premise of this thread is utter rubbish. anothers posters links are hardly enough support.

The only western-culture Turkey has is Istanbul. Ive been there.

Despite all the money, the place is still oppressive. When a woman is seen walking alone they call her a prostitute.
3 The Persians are not arabs.
Not a certain race is the enemy of the free world, but a certain religion. And not the entire religion, but certain fanatical outgrowths of it.

The premise of this thread is that fanatical islam - which is rather widespread among the average joe (or should I say the average mohammed) - is
incompatible with our society of relative freedom.
