In the American media, you hear repeatedly things like "Hamas wants Israel destroyed, Hamas is committed to the destruction of Israel, Hamas is a
terrorist organization, Hamas is an extremist group."
What they don't mention is that for almost 10 years now Hamas has been offering Israel a permanent cease-fire if Israle returns to the 1967 border,
which they are required to do under international law.. Is it 'extreme' to require a country to respect international borders? Last year former US
president Jimmy Carter traveled to the Gaza strip and met with Hamas, Hamas aggreed to allow [Palestinian President] Mahmoud Abbas to negotiate with
Israel a border in which Israel would withdraw from the West Bank, and Hamas aggreed to put any aggreement Abbas signed to a referendum for the
Palestinian people to vote on, and to adhere to a ceasefire while all this was done. The American media almost completly ignored that whole meeting.
