Rods are insects which come into close contact with a camera at close range, too fast to be clear enough. As the camera can't use anti-aliasing on a
creature in close proximity to the lens, they're presented as jagged objects in three frames or so.

yea i understand they are critters , they will sometimes show up at close range and they usually are blurry because of their speed. i think this
object in the Op's video is close to the camera.
some of the examples in the video i posted look exactly the same.
if we had the original copy of the video then some analysis might be possible , without it though it will pages of just guesses.

As far as any jet noise is concerned, it is almost certainly one of the small fighter jets that monitor the approach of the shuttle as it makes its
landing. I have no idea what the dark object is in the background, but I suspect that it is one of those jets.

I noticed the object when I watched it Live on Nasa Television and it is an commercial airliner.
After the shuttle landed I watched the replay to catch the aircraft and they happened to replay the landing with about a half dozen different camera
views/angles in which two of them showed the aircraft.
I don't know if all views are still available on the NASA TV site or not.
