Exchange 'mouses' for mice and 'hice' for houses in matter of fact speech...
Amazing reactions
Has anyone else noticed those that correct typos here in the Forum generally have at least one typo it that post? (Like the OP before correction )

Slipping the non-word 'Irregardless' into conversation is another good way to get them rabid.

ATS needs more grammar Nazi's! People need to lift their game with spelling and grammatical errors. Like the lazy use of the word 'then' in place
of 'than'.
I must see that error at least 3 times a day and it drives me BONKERS!

Your wording is more grammatically correct, but I think the other way is easier (or more easy ) for the average Joe and Josephine to comprehend.

A Texan professor and an Oxford professor are chilling at a conference bar. The Texan professor, bored, looks to the Oxford professor and strikes up a
conversation.
“So there partner, where y’all from?”
Oxford prof. replies, pushing his glasses to his nose: “Well, in reply to your query, I hail from Oxford. In addition, where I come from, we never
end our sentences in a preposition.”
The Texan prof. blinks once, shrugs his shoulders and drawls, “My apologies! What I mean to say is ‘where y’all from, asshole?’”

"Nazis" is plural while "Nazi's" is possessive. Further, don't quote me on this but, I don't believe there is such a thing as " more
grammatically correct." It is or it is not... no?
So there! Double
Dear God, I'm turning into one; I can feel the little mustache forming on my upper lip as I type this!

Their own, maybe, but the skills themselves aren't going anywhere. They're just becoming more 'precious'.
People said the same thing about Mark Twain's usage of southern slang in his writing. An English historian might be able to verify that Shakespeare
was
criticized similarly.
They said the same thing about 'beatnik' jive-talk, and comic books.
I'm all for the natural evolution of language, but when it's forced, it irritates the crap out of me.
I'm well-known among my friends as somebody who spells out every word with proper punctuation in my text messages. The thing is, there has never been
anything I've felt the need to express that was so urgent that I had to make myself sound like Cookie Monster to get the message sent fast enough.
This goes way back for me. As a kid in the '80s I couldn't stand song titles written that way:
DEVO - Girl U Want
Prince - I Would Die 4 U
Culture Club - I'll Tumble 4 Ya
I'll let DEVO slide.
And while we're on the subject - I wouldn't make a new thread for this but it's been bothering me since long before I joined.
On the "board" page where all the forums are listed with icons, the "grocer's apostrophe" (which I have renamed the "reptilian apostrophe")
makes an appearance.
I know the thought process that goes through people's heads when they make this mistake:
" UFO doesn't end with an " S" - therefore, when I am talking about more than one UFO and must pluralize it, I have to separate the
"S" from the rest of the word with an apostrophe. Come to think of it, I'll do that any time I add an "S" to a word, since I don't have
the mental capacity to distinguish between the concepts of ownership and pluralization."
Here is something I have in rotation as one of my signature images:
...And yes I realize my use of the apostrophe as a single quote mark is often rather dubious.
I've been trying to avoid using those little smiley buggers too (unless at the end of my posts). And though I'm guilty of letting an occasional
"lol" slip by, I've been trying not to at all.

Perhaps it should be, but the phrase as used in popular culture is "Grammar Nazi," so I used that.
It's a play off of "Soup Nazi," I believe.
I do love it when they spell it "Gramar Nazi, though.

I hate grammar Nazis (because my grammar is sometimes shocking).
What does annoy me though is when people use the incorrect “There” “Their” or “They’re”, it happens all the time on
ATS and drives me nuts, it’s a pet peeve!
Also the people who get it wrong with “to” “too” and “two", you would think everyone would know the correct way to use
them but on ATS there is a lot of posters that get them mixed up.
