For several prior weeks, Hamas terrorists had been daily launching rockets into Israeli towns that border Gaza. The recent volleys of missiles had insidiously become more frequent -- up to 80 a day -- and the payloads larger. Iranian-backed Hezbollah terrorists were reportedly supplying their own training and expertise.

These terrorists point to the Lebanon war of 2006 as the proper template for provoking an Israeli counter-response that will bog down the Israeli Defense Forces in the streets of urban Gaza and ensure that Palestinian civilians are harmed on global television.

Look mate, the problem is that Isreal is largely right in it's political position and Hamas is not, but Israel wipe out their opponents 3 to 1. Result, reason is faced with 'you killed three times as many of us.' I don't know the stats now, but a year or so into the Intefada, those kind of stats held.

You can't make peace when the casualties are not proportionate.

Perhaps we should then arm Hamas to the teeth with comparable arms and weapons. Perhaps then it will be "fair" for Israel to defend itself.

Do not hide behind the fact that if Hamas had better weapons, with more capability to kill, they would use them without hesitation. Hamas, not the Palestinians themselves, deserve whatever they get.

If you get bitten by ants repeatedly from the same ant hill, don't you destroy the entire ant hill eventually?

Before I am accused of taking sides; I just want people to stop been killed on both sides.

I read your post 4 times and it just doesn't make sense.
Are these rules published anywhere, or have you just thought them up?

For several prior weeks, Hamas terrorists had been daily launching rockets into Israeli towns that border Gaza

Our attention is glued to the violence of the last hour, not that of the last month that incited the war.

This war has been ongoing for decades.

If America had accepted such rules in, say, World War II

They wouldn't have nuked a country that was trying to surrender.

The "truce" between Israel and Hamas was broken once Hamas got its hands on new stockpiles of longer-range mobile rockets

Please can you provide some evidence of this?

Yet, according to the Gaza rules, both sides always deserve equal blame.

Well both sides have been elected by their people and both have used terrorism in the past.

Heres a thought, how about if the Palestinians help out the Isrealies by getting rid of Hamas? They can take back their country and I bet Isreal would be happy to leave since they wont be under attack anymore.

Why are people in the West so infatuated with "killing off" their problem instead of learning what caused the problem?

There will always be a "Hamas" type organization in Palestine because Israel keeps expanding its borders into Palestinian towns, and Israel does not allow Palestine to have a state military. What is the deterrent for another state taking over your town?

What do the Palestinians do when their home gets bulldozed to make room for another state's apartment complex?

The reason why Hamas attacks Israel is to keep them (or at least) slow down Israel's territory expansion into the Palestinian refugee camps.

If Israel wants to create peace for its citizens, they will stop expanding its borders. Then Hamas will no longer have to protect Palestinians from Israel's expansion.

Hmmm ......unless I missed something over the last several years, Israel forcibly REMOVED most if not all of it its settlers out of the West Bank and Gaza, just so that the Palestinians could work towards having their own autonomous state. There is no where for them to expand their borders without invading Egypt, Jordan and Lebanon. The Israelis have bent over backwards to accommodate the Palestinians.

This situation is just another example of the double standard the Arabs have been pushing for decades. It's OK for the Palestinians to fire rockets into Israel from outside the window of a sleeping child, or to hide their weapons in a neighborhood, but when Israel decides to defend itself against these attacks and innocents get killed they are the bad guys. Hamas will not be happy until one or the other is wiped off the face of the earth, and they care not how many non-combatants of either Arab or Hebrew blood die in the process.
