Earthquake Prediction:

I think there will be a magnitude 7.0 or larger earthquake in Indonesia, close to Sumatra within... hmmm 10 days from now.

I'm basing this on the fact that I look at usgs.gov a lot so it could come to nothing, but when the number of quakes worldwide drops much below 180 on that site there's normally something coming.

edit to add: movement in this area is not something I have seen, I have been watching for about 2 years. This one is unusual.

I am going to go out on a limb here, based on what I have been seeing I would say that a significant event will take place in the western or central US within 48 hours. I note that the 'circle of quakes' which cover most of the western US is sporadic now, for a very long time when you look at the US map, there is a circle of quakes that seem to always be going off, nothing big, just steady making their rounds. Recently I noted that it is no longer defined as it was, and is closing in on itself. I would imagine that it indicates movement.

listening to the news in the background and they said a 7.1 earthquake just hit but I missed the location.

Anyone know? The USGS site doesn't show it yet.

Would this cause any tsunami like effects in view of the narrowness of the area?

I have often wondered this as well.
What does the "false" mean?

Hi Spinkyboo, my apologies if the datasaet is causing confusion. The false is just a flag in my database that says whether the earthquake has been revised (True) or not (False).

I could not find anything anywhere about the effects of these two so I assume that answer is that they did not create any tsunami like effects.

4.0 23miles off San Diego coast

Alot of 5.0+ quakes around the globe in the last 24-36hrs. Because I have just recently became interested (found the source to track) Is this at or above average?
