Although this info is at the bottom of the original page - I wanted to post this specifically for the folks who might want to receive Tsunami warnings in the email - etc...

wcatwc.arh.noaa.gov...

For those of us on the west coast you have probably noticed that there are tsunami warning zone signs all along the coast now.

There's a tsunami warning after the Indonesia quake.

Channelnewsasia.com: Strong quake hits off Indonesia's West Papua province

A 7.2-magnitude quake struck at sea to the southwest of Manokwari in Indonesia's West Papua province early Sunday, the geophysics agency said in a text message alert, warning also of a tsunami.

Please visit the link provided for the complete story.

Expect updates in the news reports. The quake just happened, and there got to be lots of damage made from a quake as strong as this one.

It seems not a month goes by that Indonesia is not hit by an earthquake that misses the news. This has been going on since June/July.

Just wait until 2012 - with all the cosmic stress.
I think things could ramp up as we get closer, and crest then.

Just heard a little news snippet on CNN about this. Apparently since the epicenter was on land, the chances of a tsunami are pretty slim. I sure hope there isn't another tsunami, we need a break from this kind of thing.

Can this earthquake be linked to Indonesia mega caldera in the sunda straits and the seismic events gong on in the Yellowstone?

If you consider an earthquake a massive wave in the earth (which it is) the "ripple" effect from all the Indo activity provide additional stress towards yellowstone. The entire Indo area is like a concave wall that looks to focus energy towards the west coast of the US. If one follows the lines of stress by connecting the "dots" (history of quakes over the last year) there appears a line from San Diego thru Las Vegas up to Yellowstone, and another from Portland towards Yellowstone. Both lines meet and end at Yellowstone.......

Just a thought........

I've been keeping a close eye on New Guinea and the surrounding areas for over a month now. This is not surprising.

Waiting for more news.

Oh. I didn't think of that! A general awakening of the volcanic around the world. Yellowstone would be the cherry on the sundae. The big planet killer. The swarms are continuing there ...

This New Guinea and the surrounding areas has been a very active area of late -
It wiped out a lot of the Marshall Islands with huge wave impact several days.

I wonder if the other mega volcanoes around the world are having problems, but it seems mostly Indonesia, they are all active in one way or the other, but Yellowstone is only active below the surface.

I could be wrong but Indonesia houses the biggest caldera as Yellowstone ranks number 10 in the list of mega volcanoes.

Many of the major volcanoes around the world are inactive but it will be interesting to see if South America is having some recent activity also.
