If you wanted change, you should have voted for Ron Paul. Both McCain and Obama are not going to bring any change. Regardless of whether you support
him or not, whether you like him or not, WHAT relevance does his skin color have to his performance.

How? Forget what society tells you to associate with the word "negro" and explain to me what is degrading about those two words.
I really would be interested to know if there is any one out there who can specifically explain what is degrading about calling someone black in
Spanish.
Hell, it's almost to the point where we can't call people black in English! We have to call them "African-American". I mean, seriously, people.
Are we going to change the name on all of the crayons too?
This censorship of "negativity" is supposed to be some step forward for society, but all I see is a bunch of whining children complaining to their
mommies that another kid said a mean word.
It's a color. Grow up.

You tell me what relevance his skin color has to his ability to perform in the first place. I don't know about America, but here in the Netherlands
people don't commonly use skin colors to refer to people.

Someone did question Obama and nobody liked the answer so he was painted as a non tax paying, unlicsened, undercover mole for McCain.
That of course is a sad commentary in itself.
I agree the use of 'magic negro' was not meant in a polite manner but one in a derogatory stance. However, the two words by themselves have no
racial cogitation. Albeit they were used with the intent to degrade which is shameful.

This is in fact the whole point, it is not a matter of skin color it is one of performance. People need to give him a chance before they say anything.
Who knows, he might just be the next best thing to sliced bread. For the US's sake, I hope he is the greatest POTUS the country has ever seen but I
doubt it. Don't pin your hopes on any man, he will only let you down. Though there is no need to slur him before he has taken office.
Personally I wanted Ron Paul but he was painted by the media as a 'fruit cake' and never had a chance. Obama is the POTUS elect and I do not care if
he is black, white, pink or purple poka doted. He deserves respect for the office he has been elected to until he proves otherwise and that includes
not calling him a 'magic negro'.

It may be sad, but it is the truth.
The "plumber" asked how he intended to deliver on a promise and the result of the answer was that he was discredited and humiliated in the national
spot light.
on topic.
The comment was probably someone being sarcastic.

"He deserves respect for the office he has been elected to"
First He hasn't even proven he's American-Born.
Second, He was only elected by just over ONE QUARTER (%26.5) of the people living in your country.
*United States — Population: 301,139,947 (July 2007 est.)
*136.6 million Americanshave voted this election
*Of over 300 Million Americans less than 80 million voted for Obama.

While most ATSer claim that they are not racists, people of colour have to contend with these human land mines in their daily lives. There are many
undercover bigots floating around and once in a while they say something terrible or do awful things to unsuspecting people of colour.
Bearing in mind that black people only make up 12% of the US population, these bigots throwing their 10 cents, collectively it expresses itself as a
deluge to the average AfroAmerican. You should always support your black compatriots when they drive their fists through the teeth of these bigots.

When I read this I sort of got the impression of sarcasm. Sort of like posting on here though it is very difficult to convey the sarcasm without just
coming out and saying that is what it is.
So for me I caught it as a ding against the Republicans. I guess some see sarcasm when others see racism though.

Both points well taken, and for those that did not vote, they have even less to say. As for the first point, since the SC refuses to hear any case
regarding this it becomes a mute point in reality. Either way there was no need to refer to him that way, just mhop.

"and for those that did not vote, they have even less to say"
Why? Because they refused to choose the lesser of two evils?
Those of you who voted these criminals into office should keep your mouths shut - you've done enough damage.
A choice between two Globalists Warmongers who are both members of the CFR, Trilateral Commission and who both vacation at the Bohemian Grove... that
is no choice at all.
*Better yet, what about 2004 when the choice was between two cousins who are both Skull and Bones members...

It does not matter who voted for Obama or McCain their vote did not actually count. Popular vote does not choose the president only the electoral vote
does. This is the difference between a republic and a democracy.
But really what does who voted and who didn’t have to do with a text message?

I'm sorry, but I seem to be missing something here. What has this to do with the fact that someone sent a text message to Fox News calling him a
'magic negro'?
Your point that only 26% of the population voted out of a total population of over 300 million. Can all 300 million vote? The answer to that is No.
Thus of the 300 million possible, who in truth can vote? Out of those eligible, how many did? You might find that it was in fact the majority of
eligible voters that elected Obama. Lesser of two evils doesn't matter, he was still elected.
As for having a choice, we haven't had a real choice since Teddy or before. If you really want to get technical, congress has not been
Constitutionally seated since 1861. So everything done since that time is unconstitutional anyway. Face it, he IS the POTUS elect and should be given
proper respect and not called a 'magic negro'.

The whole thing is just another example of the attitude of the right wing in our country. This is part and parcel of the reason for the decline of
the Republican party. Racism is not cool, not funny, and it is no longer socially, ethically, or politically acceptable.
A point was made earlier in the thread about what would happen if Pres. Elect Obama were to be the target of an assassination attempt or worse. It
scares the hell out of me! Living in the border of the inner city, and being part of a mixed family, I hear the conversation about him and the
potential danger he is in. I pray that nothing happens. I really do think that if anything like that occurs, the riots that happened when Martin was
killed will pale into nothing compared. Trust me, if it does happen I will not be leaving my house. Rioters have no desire to know who they are
targeting, all they need is to see a face that represents the problem and it is all over.
